Casinos & Gambling

WinStar World Casino and Resort is a massive casino complex that offers a modern and spacious environment for gaming enthusiasts. The resort features an array of dining options, shops, a golf course, and an outdoor pool. Visitors can expect a seamless flow throughout the facility with numerous restaurant choices strategically placed around the resort. The casino boasts a wide selection of games including traditional table games like poker and blackjack as well as the latest slot machines with exciting bonus features.

Fun place to visit if you can handle the smoke / smell from smoking in most of the casino. There are couple of areas which are completely free from smoking too. Friendly people and staff as per my experience.Got complimentary room last time I visited and it was well worth it. The amenities inside the room were great too.

It was super smoky, but we managed to stay there for one hour. If you’re not okay with smoke I’d suggest you go to the smoke free room or bring your face mask, or simply go during the week days (less ppl, less smoke). The ladies that bring our drinks to the slot machines were moody that day, next time I probably bring my own water or coffee so I don’t bother or get such attitude, they ruin the mood.

Ana T — Google review

We got a special deal on the room and had some food credits and gambling credits. It was a great deal and the room was nice, however we had lots of different styles of pillows but the bed was firmer than I prefer. The bathroom and shower was very nice. There was a built in nightlight in the bathroom which was helpful. They had a microwave and a refrigerator in the room which you can fill with water and sodas from outsideThey also provide tea and coffee and have ice machines. They offer room service from the Terrace View Cafe. We chose to go down and eat in the restaurant. The food was very good and service was also good. We actually got real half and half for our coffee

I have to give them a 5 star. We went down and stayed 2 nights couples spa pkg. Checked in got to room after checking out a few things. AC was making an awful noise. Called front desk sent maintenance to check it out. No other rooms available. Changed out our ac unit in just a few minutes. Next morning no hot water. Called front desk in just a little while we had hot water. Slots do not pay out very well. You better have some walking shoes on because no matter where you go it is a very long walk. Not bad for a casino. Massage was great, room service venue could use some upgrades but for the most part not bad at all. Travel around the world and never leave the building.

We had a great time here. A lot of game varieties, from crap tables to slot machines. The rewards programs are awesome and enable you to get your monies worth. Visiting the different themed rooms, like Egypt, Rome, Beijing, etc, was so amazing, and we can't wait to go again. We didn't stay on property time, so we couldn't see the room, but we plan to next time.

Had a BLAST! Going back when I learn to play poker...Pricey but worth it! Beware of all the new "SERVICE CHARGES & Anti per hand requirements" Great POOLS & SPA! Wasn't overly impressed with the buffet (not well-seasoned food, but lots of sauces to spice things up) DESSERTS we're Heavenly! Walking around this HUGH Casino burned a few calories too.

Bev S — Google review

We came to see Matt Rife and stayed in the RV campground. The campground is SUPER nice with very level concrete sites and a ton of room to maneuver. Very awesome. We had a great time in the casino and came out ahead on our slot play which is kind of unheard of post-rona. The casino is WAY bigger than we expected and has a huge variety and number of slots and table games. It's probably one of the bigger casinos we've been to outside of Vegas. It very much has a Vegas vibe with different world-themed sections of the floor and restaurants scattered throughout. The Lucas Oil Live venue was very nice, clean and the staff was very friendly. We will absolutely be back when we get that Vegas itch but can't make the long flight out. This is a day drive for us from KC and makes for an excellent weekend away! Our only "complaint" is that we wanted to play bingo but missed the "mini" session which is an hour long. The regular sessions are FOUR hours long! Way too long for us.

Michael B — Google review

Not a bad casino but there is nothing for families but a pool. They could really use an arcade or something to make this a better location for families. Food wasn't bad. A dog pooped on the floor and it took forever for the staff to block it off that people walked it in and tracked it all over.

Jeff F — Google review

slots, slots, and slots... few non computer tables only two open roulette tables... sigh. the per play bet is silly, but it is what it is. the dealers are either great, or not. some dealers took the time to explain the rules and plays/bets to newer players, other dealers were just energy drainers... beautiful casino floors pace and exterior of the building. great for photo opportunities.

My husband and I came to see a concert and to spend a couple days relaxing here. It's a beautiful place, and the casino is fun to walk through. Our room was clean and quiet with a great view. We spent a day at the cascades pool, which you have to pay extra for, and it was nice, but we were abandoned by our waitress. I'm sure the kinks will work out in time and with a little more training. All in all it was a nice experience!

We had a ball! We Took my son for his birthday and we hung out. The food at the buffet was delicious and the service was really good. The staff was nice and rooms were clean with no issues. We stayed in the pool tower. The view was nice! Everyone that greeted us was very pleasant. It was our first time. We will definitely return!

Shawntell T — Google review

The casino is awesome, promotions are great, (got a complementary stock pot), free play money, and a free buffet. Our only drawback was our room never got cleaned. I guess I assumed resorts tidy up everyday but apparently I needed to request this at checkout. I will do so in the future, as I have gone 4 times this year and will probably visit again soon. Loved the place!

Grace B — Google review

I got a card in the mail for a comped room and other perks so I decided to include it at the end of a road trip. So far, I am not impressed.Check in was a hassle. After standing in two separate lines to be processed, I was told they would text me when they had a room available. After two hours of waiting, I went through their line again to see what was happening. The agent was apologetic and provided a key promptly. 90 minutes later, I got the text. When I got to my room, on the 16th floor, the view was uninspiring and there was only a shower. While it was a nice shower, I had spent the last week helping someone move across the country and really wanted a long soak. Minor disappointments. The restaurants were very pricey even considering the $50 coupon I was provided that had to be used all at once. It wouldn't have been an issue except that the hotel wasn't in walking distance of anything and my visit was during a tornado watch so I was sort of trapped unless I wanted to drive in the weather. They didn't even have any performers at their theater. They had lots of ads for who was going to perform in a few months but no shows while I was there.I won't be back.

Bob R — Google review

I've been here 11 years ago. Liking the upgrades of the entire place. I will be back in the future. This visit was more or less for the Kevin Hart show. We did eat at the buffet before checking into our rooms. Food was good and tasty. The desserts were good as well. I did gamble a little and the machines were fun. My only takeaway is the cigarette smoke and the smokers who are rude. The non smoking area is a life saver. But I think I won more money on the smoking side. 🙂 The rooms were good for the price and had nice views. We'll be back.

I don't know where to start but this is our third time in one year we visited WS Casino/Resort it's a beautiful place, tons of slots and machines to chose from. Plenty of walking for sure. We definitely loved both pools. Will be back. Our first time also attending Lucas Oil, got to watch a concert this past weekend with great friends and family. Will be back, come fall or Superbowl

Caroline R — Google review

We went to see a concert at the Lucus Oil building. It was new, clean and well built. Lots of room. Plenty of drink stands. Lots of security. Felt safe. Parking is really difficult here but the rooms and casino is beautiful.

I’m not a gambler - WinStar first real casino experience- we did not win anything 😂 but we had a great time - we got home from vacation and my husband had received 2 free nights and buffets- so we went back a couple of weeks later and it was really great!! The rooms are very clean with super comfy beds- the buffet is amazing and don’t get me started on the desserts there because they are top notch - just wow! All of the staff we encountered were just wonderful!! Thank you for such a pleasant stay - the only negative thing was that the pool was closed for the season 😞 hopefully we will make it back sometime when that’s open too!! Either way- we WILL be back!!!

Crystal S — Google review

Received a 2 night complimentary stay, and just left this morning. Our room had a view of the cascades. It was a very nice room and view. Loved the hotel and the vibes. The workers were very friendly and helpful. The pool itself was nice. You have to pay for the cascades though. $15 for half day and $30 for full day. My only complaint about the pool section was me and my girlfriend were passing by, and the life guard happened to yell at the kids (kids will be kids, right?) but I heard her mumble a curse word under her breathe, which I thought wasn’t professional.Anyways, the casino itself was awesome! Ended up winning today before leaving. Hopefully I can get another free stay so I can come back!

Manda G — Google review

We went for my fiance's birthday after reading online that they give credits for games on one's birthday. We made a 4 hour trip only to find out they don't do birthday specials anymore and that's a shame. Won't be going back. The buffet staff was wonderful but the rest of our experience was horrible. Save yourself the money and the trip, go to a smaller casino that appreciates its patrons.

Tizzy W — Google review

The non-smoking room had ashes on the desk table, and it STANK! More can be done to make a non-smoking room...non smoking. Love the casino. Wish the pool was open. I understand it's seasonal, but it's hot! Rooms should be discounted if we can't have the full experience, but I enjoyed myself, and the staff was helpful!

Lady R — Google review

First time here. Was greeted by multiple people and they help me get my pay card. Restrooms was clean. It's of machines and tables. Had a issue reading the machine on how much the min bets were but I don't go to the casino often so that falls on me lol. People were civilized during our visit. Didn't get a chance to try none of the food or anything. Overall I would go again

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a complimentary stay at WinStar World Casino, and let me tell you, it was a fantastic getaway! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and comfort that made us feel right at home. The hotel was nothing short of delightful—spotlessly clean, spacious, and adorned with lovely decor. We sank into our plush bed each night, feeling like we were in our own little paradise. Now let's talk about the Grandvia buffet! Oh boy, what a spread! The complimentary buffet was a feast for the senses. From savory dishes to decadent desserts, we indulged in a culinary adventure that left our taste buds dancing. It was like a delicious dream come true!As a first-timer at the blackjack table, I approached with excitement and a hint of nervousness. While I may not have walked away with a pile of cash, the thrill of playing was exhilarating! Plus, with all the complimentary perks, I felt like a winner regardless of the cards dealt.Overall, our time at WinStar was nothing short of spectacular. With great accommodations, delicious food, and an exciting casino atmosphere, it’s a fantastic destination for anyone looking for a little fun and relaxation. We can’t wait to return for another round of adventure!

Maiko T — Google review

Went to casino and had dinner only. Very nice casino. A little too smoky even in non-smoking. Buffet had quite a lot from which to choose. Food was not too great. Lovely venue. Wish we could have attended a show while in Fort Worth.

Jacqueline A — Google review

A huge casino, very nice layout. They should have a better variety of slot machines given the size of this place. But the most interesting thing was a roulette table on a Sunday afternoon. I put $100 bill on the table and asked the dealer for singles. She said that they do not do singles on the weekends, just weekdays. Then she said that the minimum chip value was $5. The table minimum at the time was only $10. So I got $95.00 in $5 color chips and she gave me five $1 chips. As I placed my bet, putting three on the table, she then said that there is a $1 buy-in per spin so I gave her one of the $1 chips that she gave me and I only did this twice before I decided to cash out. And the five-dollar chips were still roulette chips, not regular $5 chips because I had to change the color into regular chips to go to the cashier. I still cannot understand if you're dealing with colors, why not just allow $1 chips? I would have played much longer. Better off at the automated roulette wheels where you can just place your bets on the electronic screen at your station

Michael H — Google review

The rooms are really nice and I love going to the pool during the summer. Only complaint is that it's kind of annoying that you have to pay $15 per person if you want to go to the pool for adults 21 and up, even if you have a room. Apparently this pool is open to the public. Winstar is definitely one of my favorite casinos because of how big it is and how many food options there are.

The center features exhibits, galleries, and outdoor recreations of a village that provide an immersive experience of traditional life. Visitors can witness daily performances and learn about the history through real artifacts and interactive displays.

Always a great place to come. Each and every time see something new or different. Cafe looks awesome and still great food. Loved every second. ♥️

Wonderful place to learn more about the Chickasaw people and their history. The center is beautiful, kid-friendly, and fun to walk around with the whole family. The village is especially interesting and well-designed. Free comic books are also available—which my kids devoured within 24 hours of our visit!Informative, fun, and engaging. Also it’s free! Highly recommend.

The museum is very well done. Lots of displays, music, video clips, and historical details. There is a 15 minute introductory film. The staff were extremely helpful and so very pleasant. A gentleman met us in the parking lot and offered us a ride to the museum (I must have looked elderly) in the electric carts. I wish I had come here years ago. I would have brought every grandchild, niece and nephew here if I had realized the value. Do not miss this attraction! (They are closed on Mondays.)

Awesome facilities & all the staff friendly & knowledgeable. Free entrance & grounds. Great RV Parking. The museum does have a charge but worth every $$.I would allow at least 4 hours to tour & see Museum & Video. We only had two hours, but we enjoyed the Stomp Dance. My husband participated in it, attached picture.

This remarkable destination is not just a museum; it's a vibrant journey through the Chickasaw Nation's rich heritage and traditions. Whether you're a history buff, a culture enthusiast, or simply looking for an enriching experience, this cultural gem promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Chickasaw Nation.

The Chickasaw cultural center is a wonderful place to learn about the culture of the Chickasaw people. There is many things to do there. There is a genealogy department. Gift store. And a nice restaurant that's very reasonable. And on the weekends there are stomp dance demonstrations.

Really worth visiting , lot of history to learn , this center is maintained well, very lovely people, lot of exhibits and a 17 min video, 6$ fee for exhibits visit otherwise parking entrance all free. There is a movie theatre I guess it’s free . You can pick some souvenirs from their shop .

Naveen ന — Google review

If you're going to Chickasaw National Recreational Area, you can also visit the Chickasaw Cultural Center on the way. This attraction featured a replica of an ancient village, meticulously crafted to resemble those traditional houses of Chickasaw tribe.

Hero T — Google review

Extremely friendly staff and well maintained location. Amazing to see the history of the Chickasaw people through the collection and exhibits.

This place was so cool 😎 we went on a work team building event and they were super accommodating and the museum was covered with cool 👀 thing to look at. We all had fun. Definitely check out the garden and a special thanks to the dancers that gave a really enthusiastic demonstration of there native dances

We stopped to stretch our legs while traveling for Christmas with our 1 yo and 2 yo. Most of this place is free and the have beautiful buildings with probably amazing museums but we only did the outside stuff with the littles so they could run. The parts we saw were great and super well done! We will have to stop by again and check out all the things we missed :)

Laura H — Google review

I really enjoyed this center. Lots of information was age-appropriate for children and there was also an opportunity to watch the tribe members performing a dance.

Quiet H — Google review

Wonderful exhibit. A glimpse into the culture and history of the Chickasaw people. Interactive displays and videos that played when you walked into a viewing area. Entrance fee was reasonable, $6 for seniors. One of the reviews was negative regarding the food and we almost skipped it. There is a video of the cafeteria. It’s a museum cafeteria not a Michelin star restaurant. The idea was to give you a glimpse into foods that they ate. I thought it was good. I had the venison stew. Very friendly staff. A shout out to Toni from the cafeteria. She went above and beyond to make sure our coffee and meal was right. A sad and complicated piece of our history from a proud people. You should go here.

L. L — Google review

This is one of the best cultural centers we've experienced. The curation is world class. I've read a fair amount of history about this part of the world, and I learned even more here. I definitely have more respect and knowledge about the Chichawsaw Nation.

Park

Nature & Parks

Turner Falls Park in Davis, Oklahoma is a natural wonderland featuring the state's tallest waterfall at 77 feet. The park offers a refreshing swimming hole, sandy beaches, and a rock castle to explore. Visitors can also discover natural caves, hiking trails, cabins, campsites, and RV sites. While there is an entrance fee, the park uses it to maintain and enhance its facilities. Families can enjoy nature hikes and cooling off in the swimming area during summer months.

We arrived on Sunday 10/13 and checked out on Tues 10/15. We camped in a pull through spot. The restrooms were immaculately clean. There was no trash anywhere in the park. The trails were well maintained. Great place for a short trip away from the city. Only one suggestion, mark the trails a little better.

Jerry L — Google review

We were passing through and didn't know much about the area. We quickly realized it waa way too pricey for a quick stop and walk-through. It would have cost our group of 5 almost 60 dollars. We drove past the entrance for a quick (and free) peek on an overlook, then carried on with our trip. It was pretty, but nothing spectacular.

Joan T — Google review

The place is good to spend quality time. The waterfalls are beautiful, small hikes, river walk, picnic areas. Entry fee is very high. The zipline itself doesnt have great view. But 777zip has good view point overlooking falls.

Manikanta M — Google review

It was pretty deserted since the swimming pools were closed, which I prefer. But the entrance and gift shop booths were run by what appeared to be teenagers who weren't all that engaging and I got a bit turned around. You can drive to the head of the falls trail. I saw signs for carriage rides to the trail and they had a food booth at the head of the trails which was closed. A zipline also goes over the canyon but there seems to be a different parking area for it. Still, I would come back because the water looked clear and inviting.

Leianna H — Google review

Several swimming spots. Cool water. There's a well-paved walkway to the 77' waterfall. Go early, though, for good parking. You can get in and out several times on the same day as long as you keep the QR code ticket (about $20 per person after tax and fees as of summer 2024).

Bryan C — Google review

If you want a quiet family trip this is not the place to go primitive camping. Other campers had the music very loud, screaming, and running around playing very late at night. Sounded more like a big party going on. We did not sleep for two nights. Nobody enforces the quiet time from 10pm-8am. The swimming area is good make sure you wear water shoes it is very slippery.

Maira G — Google review

It was my first time traveling there and the sites and experiences were very unique and wonderful. The swimming areas are very nice, and I had a bunk house with 8 people and it was a very clean area. Shelly and Holly were also very nice workers at the park, definitely coming back!

Joanna S — Google review

Could it hurt to smile .Their employees weren't very unhappy and not vary friendly. But we enjoyed walking around and it was very clean and taken care of. It was a little pricey to me just to see a water fall

Chris — Google review

People complaining about the entrance free is ridiculous and whatever else negative people said. This place deserves every penny. It was beautiful, and well kept up and taken care of. The staff was great. Every single person in my group had a beautiful time. The nature and natural beauty was so amazing! So much to do and see. Caves, castles, and most refreshing water ever. I appreciated being able to buy the tickets online before. We went on a Friday and got there around 10am without any issues for parking. Can’t wait to come back!

Danielle A — Google review

First time visiting and had a blast! Went with my roommate, her two kids and my niece. There was something for all of us to keep us entertained. We did a short hike since we got there early and then headed to the swimming holes. The lifeguards at the blue swimming hole were super friendly and patient with the kids when they first got to the diving board. Overall, it was a great experience and I have the sunburn to prove it. Will definitely be going back.

Jen A — Google review

We had such an amazing time! The weather this past Friday did it's thing and was perfect. The waterfall was beautiful and the water was so cold and refreshing. We paid 180 or 190 can't remember, that was daily admission and parking for 5 adults and two under 12. That's a great price for a full day. We hiked some of the trails that lead to the tops of mountains. It was amazing not sure what else I could say. 5 stars.

Nina D — Google review

Still as great as when I was younger. Now instead of people just at the waterfall everyone’s located up and downstream from it. With everyone so spread out it’s not so congested and some spots you can pull your car right up to the water! Entering and traveling around was easy, map given upon entering.

Angelo — Google review

We went for day use during a summer weekday and had a fantastic time! Busy but not crowded. We were able to find a picnic table in the shade when we wanted to eat the lunch we packed in, parking was no problem, and there was plenty of space to spread out! Highly recommend wearing water shoes and kids definitely need life jackets for the deeper areas, but our five kids (ages 8-17) had a blast! Take the hike up to the castle and then keep going to the top of the hill—it’s a short but steep hike but worth the payoff with the view at the top!

Show A — Google review

Turner Falls is a beautiful park, but it does get super crowded. If you are looking for that relaxing and peaceful camping trip, this is not the place. I knew what I was getting into because I used to come to this park in my 20's and tent camp with friends (before they had the trolleys). This time I stayed in a cabin with my family (cabin #9). I'm older now and sleeping in a bed was nice as well as having a bathroom all to yourself. Cabin was clean enough and had bedsheets, toilet paper, fridge, stove, etc. If you stay in a cabin make sure to bring towels (bath and swimming), paper towels, and kitchen items. To the people using this facility for day use only....come early. People start parking at 8 am and take up all level 2 parking. If you come at 9 am or later you might have to park on level 3 and take the trolley down. Come early if you want to have a convenient spot.

Michelle P — Google review

Crappy and rude workers! My wife and I drove 2 hours to enjoy our time there. Drove to the gate to pay to park and was told I needed a reservation to be there. All the while people pouring in. I was told to exit and was directed to the exit.I had bought food a we were hungry so we parked outside the park in empty designated parking spot and started eating our food and looking for other places to go.I ate three bites of my food and a worker came to my window and knocked on it.I rolled down my window and the worker told me that I couldn't park there and had to leave despite the parking are being empty. I will NEVER go to Turner Falls again!

Steve L — Google review

Absolutely awful experience. The atmosphere was terrible, filled with nothing but rude Texans who made the visit unbearable. The place was completely covered in trash—beer cans, used condoms, you name it. Did I mention the trash? It was everywhere, and the sheer amount of garbage attracted swarms of wasps. For the price we paid, it was not even remotely worth it. Sure, the falls and the castle were cool, but they’re definitely not worth dealing with the filth, the crowds of inconsiderate people, and the steep cost. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Sylvia K — Google review

Absolutely amazing experience! Family friendly ...great for finding a sweet little swimming spot to yourself. Plus there are so many trails ....tee pees, 2 castles to find and a waterfall, diving board and swimming slide. So much fun and it's so affordable. It's an experience you will never forget. Many choices to choose from to stay the day or night....

Kim W — Google review

The falls were always a vacation destination when I was a kid. I took my youngest today after not having been in 30 years. The park itself is still the same, but today, the park was filled to the brim with Hispanic folks. I must of showed up during a family reunion or something. We couldn't find a place to park even though I paid for the premium parking. The other guests were playing their music so loud and wouldn't turn it down. They were throwing trash everywhere. My 8 year old spent 30 minutes picking up trash just so we could enjoy a small area. The staff did nothing about the behavior by the other guests. When we asked the staff to help us, we were made to feel unwelcome. We made the best of it since this was for my sons birthday. But I feel like Turner falls staff needs to regulate of people trashing out the place and being rude and unreasonable with other guests. I paid 70 bucks to be treated terribly and clean up trash!!!

Jennie S — Google review

I love this place! It's only 2 hours from DFW TX. Camping is cheap. It's not super crowded. The water is cold year round. There is food and supplies on-site and plenty of things to keep busy with. I recommend the zip line which goes directly over the main swimming hole from one side of the park to the other for only $15 per person. GREAT PLACE for the whole family or a solo trip

Mike M — Google review

We didn't stay at the rooms but the park was great. We enjoyed roaming around and exploring the castles, they are just across from the water, so there's not a hike really but more of a climb up the stairs to get there. I counted 187 stairs coming down, so it's a high climb. There are multiple areas to climb concrete stairs and stone rooms and walls that are tight and full of spiders. It wasn't very crowded when we were there, and if you enjoy history, it is kinda cool but I would like more info and you don't get any of that. Just a bunch of, hmm, I wonder what this was? The water was cold and nice to cool off after all that climbing. There was not a bunch of trash, or wild teenagers, everyone was very nice. There are plenty of workers around to help and they do enforce parking limitations. There was plenty of parking when we went, we paid for level 1 and was able to find handicap spots as well. If you do not want to pay, there are shuttles going back and forth. They do have snacks and drinks, and sell bags of ice ($5) close to the castles. You can take a cooler, just no glass bottles.

Betty G — Google review

This place was pretty expensive costing $30 per person plus $12.50 for parking. The parking is in far away lots but they at least provide a shuttle to get to the falls. Problem is the shuttles had very slow turnaround times. We were waiting 25 minutes just to get on a shuttle down to the falls and then it took 5 minutes to drive there. The Falls are cool and the castle is kind of neat. Swimming is decent if you don't mind all the rocks you have to step carefully over to get into the water. It just wasn't worth the headache of getting there and back nor the price tag for me.

Trevor K — Google review

We took the kids for a nice weekend get away. They had a blast in the falls, hiking and more. The cabin was nice (other than the hot water not working). The staff there was absolutely useless. I'm fairly certain that the gals working the trading post are mute. The did not say a single word in either visit we made. There was trash, beer cans and broken glass all over the sand and on trails.

Chris K — Google review

We camped in the primitive area and we had a wonderful time. The park was fantastic. We saw lots of wildlife and the scenery and stream were beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will visit again. Great time.

The Grand Casino Hotel and Resort is a luxurious facility that offers a variety of dining options as well as a casino, spa and rooftop pool. The hotel is located in downtown Oklahoma City and is within walking distance of several popular attractions.

Great location, amazing service, clean comfy rooms, and quality entertainment. Check their website for upcoming events! They have several restaurants to choose from and they’re all top notch! I’m not much of a gambler but I do enjoy visiting the restaurants. Try the Flame Brazilian Steakhouse. I enjoyed the Grandstand Sports Bar as well! The Grand Casino is great for the whole family. I’m looking forward to experiencing the spa next! I’ll definitely be back often!

I've stopped here several times over the years and it's a beautiful casino however I've never had any luck here.. ate dinner at the sports bar and the food was delivered fast and was delicious.. service is excellent and the employees are extremely professional and nice.. plenty of truck parking is available even late at night.. just park in the back of the casino if you can't find a spot.. they also have a food court.. some guy next to me won $19,000.. good luck y'all..

The Grand has decent rooms. I like the Grand because it's not far from where I live. It gives a little freeplay and comp rooms from time to time. They do have plenty of free giveaways to card members. I've gotten several nice things from there. The merchandise they give away to customers is good quality stuff. I've gotten backpacks, Bluetooth speakers, and other things. Some of the giveaways I've had to earn 40 points to get and others I could just walk in, grab my gift, and walk out.

We had so much fun at this casino! They have craps, which is what I wanted to play the most. I didn't do so well playing craps, but I had fun anyway! The dealers were so friendly and helpful! I'm grateful for their guidance and help. They like watching people just have fun. We will definitely be back.

Highly recommend this and Choctaw nation if i could give Riverwind a no star review i would. This is a beautiful establishment with several dining options my only complaint is they aren’t open 24 hours except for Fri and Saturday which blows if your staying at the hotel. One thing i do like about the hotel is check out is at 11 but you can simply tell them you want to check out at noon and get that extra hour no charge

This was a great stop for us traveling through OK! Very nice rooms, comfortable, convenient having several restaurants to choose from right in the hotel/casino. Very nice amenities and very friendly staff checking us in!

The Grand Casino is a very good place to go for entertainment. The slot machines are decent they pay off pretty good. The only downside is that they close at 2:00 AM. They should be a 24 hour Casino.

Stopped here while passing through with my semi. What a great surprise. Ate at the Brazilian restaurant and it did not disappoint! All the meats, seafood, salad, soup and everything else you can think of. Delicious!

Amy M — Google review

Always a clean, inviting environment. The only luck I have there is usually non-existant. My money does not go very far on the slot machines. However, if you are not lactose intolerant, you can have all the ice cream you can eat.

I was cheated Saturday Night 11-9-24. The Ruby VGT machines have always paid double your bet when you land on a cherry. The $3 Ruby ($9 a pull) pays only $6 on a cherry. I complained to some lady manager but that was a waste of time.My wife was playing a different $3 Ruby and when she had a reverse spin it also did not pay but change. We have played Ruby for years and we know how they work. There was virtually no people at the casino at 7PM. I know now why. They are cheating people.I can't help but wonder if they are cheating people on all the machines. We will NEVER return to this casino, nor one owned by the same tribe, which we had been going to since it opened...ES&D.M C Gulliver Sr.

We stoped by yesterday, and we had a great time, lots of machines. Could use more poker machines, some fun poker machines like hot roll, split, and so many others I enjoy playing, we came out ahead and hoping the casino will invite us for an overnight stay, then we could have a cocktail or two.

Mercy W — Google review

It was very old feeling or vibe I should say go to the old carpet and old walls figured at a casino making this much money would be up today like Riverwind Casino in Norman put. The only positive thing is they have a self-serve ice cream machine and huge selection of drinks. However the payout is terrible

Always a fun time! Rooms are nice. Slots aretight. Had a good time playing baccarat. Flame is usually pretty good, had a bad server/bartender (same person) but other than that it was a great time!

Don S — Google review

Hotel and casino are pretty nice. Room was clean but AC made very loud noise for about 20 seconds every time I kicked on all night long. Really nice hot shower though and good selection of television stations. Poker room a little ridiculous with two plus hour wait for a table. Plenty of empty tables but I guess maybe they're short-handed on dealers? Ended up taking myself off the list at 8:30 p.m. after having waited 2 hours. Day shift players club phenomenal people but second shift supervisor should not have a job there. We were asking about the point system and how much it takes to get a comped room and all she rudely said was we base it on a lot of things and would give us no details. ( We had already stayed one night and extended for a second and just wanted one of those nights reverse comps)Food court has the best barbecue I've ever eaten out and the coffee shop is also really good. Fun machines and calming atmosphere in walkways. Felt very safe here.

First time I ever Ben here. I gotta say it was pretty nice. Lots of games n it was pretty clean. I actually hit a 1200.00 jackpot. The pay out took a little bit but they were pretty busy that evening. I'm ready to go back.

Came for the Clay Walker show. The hotel was great. The fitted sheet kept coming off the bed, would suggest new sheets. The location is good, the concert venue was awesome. The bar service at the pool was great and reasonably priced. Wish the music was working. No complaints. Would stay here again. Oh, maybe provide some bottled water in the room. Oklahoma water tastes like dirt. Lol

Maxwell M — Google review

The parking was great, and they had ramps for wheel chairs. The pricing for the room was very nice and not too expensive. The room was very comfortable, and the bedwas soft and comfortable. I was able to fall asleep easily. The food was fantastic and not too pricy. The staff and front desk were very nice to us, and made sure all our needs were taken care of while staying there! Overall, if we ever came through here again, we would definitely stay again.

The staff were really nice and helpful. The room was fantastic. We loved it. I took my wife there for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. She was really surprised. We are at the Brazilian Steak House there at the Casino. If you haven't tried it you need to. It was also fabulous. We stayed there for the weekend. My wife really had a great time and was really surprised. Thanks again Grand Casino. See you next time.

I've never stayed in the hotel but the casino has done us pretty good. When I was locked up in county jail on a $2000 cash bond my wife walked in with $350 and within 2hours she had $2500 and I was bailed out within hours. Good looking out red blood and thank you baby, I love you more than life

Ended up here for the EV chargers. There are 6 of them, 3 normal and 3 tesla. Totally free. The casino is nice and a fun way to spend time while charging up.

Nicholas S — Google review

This was my first time staying in any casino hotel. I've stayed at numerous hotels in my travels. I have even had extended stays while working out of town for weeks to month long stays. This was easily the best shower I've EVER had. Wouldn't hurt to have a nicer shower head, being the shower was so large the shower head was very small and basic? The room was a good size, had a desk w/chair, couch and 2 chairs, small refrigerator, microwave. Overall it was a very pleasant experience at a very competitive rate. I will definitely be staying in casino hotels whenever they're available for the location we're planning to stay. This room was particularly nice 👌 👍

OSU was home for 4 years during 2016-2020. Came from Bangladesh as a grad student, did a double MS, got married, started my first family, parents visited, experienced COVID in early 2020. All these years, always found peace and rejuvenation around the library, international mall, Colvin, CEAT and Human Sciences buildings. Would love to get back whenever opportunity presents itself!

Might be a little prejudice since I am a Cowboys fan (Go Pokes!) but this campus is so pretty! 🤩😍 Yes there is currently construction going on in some areas but can still easily navigate 🚙🚲🛵. The grounds are kept immaculate, no trash, no loitering of unsavory types, well maintained roads w/signs. Did go prior to students returning from summer break but able to get around campus & to town to explore no problems.Student housing bit of mess I hear? 5k more students this Aug 2024.3 day conference attended was a positive experience all-round. 👍

Apparently greek life here like to abuse animals. This is absolutely disgusting. As a college student myself, I am so deeply disturbed by this behavior. Thanks to Daily Mail, now we know how fraternities really operate here. If the school is as appalled as they say they are, they will shut this frat down. As someone from the midwest, I am so saddened by the death of this longhorn. I was raised never to kill an animal without a purpose to eat it or defend yourself. Farm stock should be respected. Not only was this animal tortured and abused, but it was left to rot as a joke! These kids are sick in the head, and need to be disciplined to the fullest extent both legally and academically. Anyone with a sound mind won't attend this college or donate a penny until these criminals are found and dealt with. People who abuse animals go on to abuse other humans, and thats a fact. Do better, OSU. This is disgraceful.

I regret to express my disappointment with my experience at Oklahoma State University. The academic support and resources fell short of expectations, with some faculty members lacking in responsiveness and assistance. Additionally, the campus infrastructure seemed in need of improvement, affecting the overall environment. The social scene was not as inclusive as hoped, and the university could benefit from more efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion. Overall, my time at OSU left me wanting more in terms of academic and social support.

Really enjoyed visiting the museum with my granddaughter who regaled us with all her 5 year old knowledge of dinosaurs (and she knows everything). There is way too much to see and do in one visit so we are considering getting a membership so she can return as often as she wants. And she will have to take her Pop-Pop with her.

This is one of, if not the best, Natural History Museum I have ever had the pleasure of visiting in my life. Clean, educational, entertaining, and beautiful, just stunning. Never crowded! Has a simple, but fun gift shop as well! Thumbs up all around! Norman/OKC is definitely one of the best places to visit for attractions similar to this.

This was a lot of fun, and the best part was meeting Nance, who, after telling her it was our first time visiting, gave us a tour in the bone section. She had personally been on several digs herself along with years at some of the best museums. She was knowledgeable and funny and made the experience that much more fun.Besides that, the rest of the museum was awesome and educational, and we had an excellent time. Can't wait to go back with the kids.

A great museum to enjoy some dinosaur bones, cool artifacts, and walk around for an hour or two. Wasn't too crowded for a Sunday visit. Paid about $13 for each person, no discounts. Plenty of parking, small walk to the entrance. Saw some fun things in the gift shop. Always love seeing the statues.Had an interesting limited time exhibit for kiddos there as well!

A very nice look into the wildlife and First People of the local area. had very clever and informative displays and the 'Dinovator' was very well executed. unfortunately couldn't stay as long as I'd have liked because the entire main hall reeked of gasoline, which permeated into the exhibit areas (though thankfully not the front entrance).

My server Chastity was so professional and friendly I thought she was a manager to my surprise she wasn't but most definitely belongs in a position like that in your casino. Keep up the awesome job! Last but not least I had an amazing day here on Monday. Made up for my last visit a month ago where they kept my money.😁

Large and clean casino. One of these days it will be non smoking, but until then it's going to smell like cigarette butts. Plenty of cards. Plenty of dies. Lots of slots and poker too. Very pleased with this casino.

I did the all you can eat buffet on Saturday, which includes snow crab legs. Everything was delicious I got there around 6pm it was about a hour wait, but it was worth it. I mainly ate crab legs, the fried shrimp was good as well as the catfish. I saved a little room for desert, which I chose the bread pudding with carmel and vanilla sauce, but they had alot of options for $45. I will definitely be back 😁. If you get the Riverwind card you save $6

Nice larger casino. They have a buffet including crab legs! It is nicely kept and clean looking. If you don’t want a buffet they do have a BK and Panda Express you can get food at. They also have a non smokers section. While there a couple people smoking walked through but overall it was less smoky than the rest of the casino. We also attended a concert and it is a large area downstairs (it was standing), or if you prefer mezzanine seating you can sit up above (it is further back, but worth it to us).

Riverwind Casino offers ample winning opportunities, although the lack of a non-smoking section might be a concern for some. My experience included both victories and losses. The casino itself exudes an aged ambiance, yet hints at ongoing renovation efforts. However, the extent of modernization remains questionable. On-site dining options are available, albeit slightly pricier than typical establishments. Complimentary beverages like water and soda are offered near the entrance upon request.

RYAN G — Google review

Your establishment really knows how to roll out the UNWELCOME mat! The security cyclist swiftly informed us that our 'semi-like' vehicle wasn't worthy of the 'RV' lot, while an eyesore fifth wheel, box truck, and hot-shot truck with trailer were allowed to stay. Meanwhile, truckers get to enjoy the scenic dirt lot a mile away with security – the ultimate VIP experience! Thanks for the savings, we'll spend our cash elsewhere!

ETD A — Google review

In the oasis room there really is no smoke smell it was nice. We’d never been to a casino before but it was a good experience and the cashier was really helpful since we were such newbies. Big food court and lots and lots of slots

Nice enough spot. Enjoy crab legs at seafood buffet but last seafood buffet there was no shrimp the last hour they were open. Great entertainment spot. Free coffee and soft drinks at multiple locations while you play. Clean facilities. Decent payouts. Crazy smoky inside, however, thats what makes it tough to endure for too long. Customer service reps call often to let you know about offers you have “earned”…

Love going to Riverwind when I visit family. It's like a mini Winstar and has a lot of good games available. I'm usually able to walk away even, or even up, even after playing for a while. Even when I don't, it's still a good time. They also give out free play often and free meals, and even sent us a voucher for a free cruise. We thought there was a catch, but nope, we're booked for our cruise in August for free!

Nice clean friendly place with a variety of restaurants to eat from. I would have loved to stay and play longer but I was on a lunch break. Yes I walked out a winner, I will definitely go again sometime

I would leave a 10 star if i could. I drive a truck for a living. The truck parking that is provided is a great service to us truckers! Free, lighted, and secure. They ask for nothing in return. I live in Norman and have spent some money at the casino, but that is never a question, if you need to park, you park! But when I parked today they gave me laminated sheet that said occupied on one side. Security guard told me that if I was going to be staying in my truck over night to place the occupied sign out so if severe weather came they would get me out of the truck and get me to shelter! What a blessing! Nice to be showed some care! Thank you Riverwind!

We just want to thank Riverwind casino for the hospitality and the great energy that was experienced Monday my future wife and I was able to experience a magical day we thank you.My soul mate and I love coming to river wind to release, the energy, games , and vibes are priceless and we love winning!!

Super expensive unless you only want crab.It was the worst buffet I've ever experienced. They have a line undeserving long. That's probably why they don't care about ...anything there was weird prome rib that seemed like precooked boil in the bag meat. The pork was dryer than dry looking shreds. No chicken at all and soggy fish and chips. There were very few sides and a lame salad bar. And to finish it a lame desert bar. At least it was above pig slop. For $39.99 it was a waste of money for me And for a casino...shame on your greedy penny pinching managment.

Fun and entertaining had a good time with friends. Had a great dinner at Chips 'N Ales ate battered fish & shrimp with chips and salad plan on taking extra to suite. Service was excellent!

Went to the showcase theater. Had to ask directions numerous times. More signage would be helpful especially outside. Staff were super friendly helpful. Wish casinos could be smoke free but ventilation was the best.

Sandra G — Google review

Machines were extremely tight however I'm giving it 5 stars because of the semi parking lot. It's great you have a secure spot to park, shuttle to casino, and an emergency weather response plan for drivers. Security guards were awesome . Thank you for thinking of the drivers coming through your area!

Really did not spend much time in Casino on this cold and wet day. Grounds leading into side entrance was littered with trash. A Landscaping brick unglued. Receptionist at guest counter was helpful issuing a new card & verifying new address from Driver's license. All total played four different slots. The Wicked Wheel was fun & kept me in the game. Ate a steak sandwich from IHOP located in food court. Steak might have been lean beef but appeared to be ground hamburger meat. Riverwind is a nice place to go for entertainment and fun.

This review is for the Showplace Theater only. We love going to see concerts here. The intimacy you have here with the artists is amazing, and the sound is spot on. We have seen several shows here and have not been disappointed. The prices at the bar are very reasonable too. I just wish they could find a way to book more talent.

Best casino I have been to in New Mexico/Oklahoma/Arizona . You can drink on the floor. Plenty of gaming area. Slots keep you playing for a while. Didn’t take your money like other casinos.

Mike B — Google review

Went and stayed at hotel with my husband and went to the casino for a bit and ate at the buffet there wasn’t much to choose from food was old and had been sitting there and the meat was dry. For what we paid the food should have been fresh. Went the next day and had a trailer on the truck he was asked to move his vehicle mind you the parking lot was empty no signs posted not to park with trailers just absolutely aggravating.

Mistie H — Google review

This place always has new machines and constantly updating. Friday all you can eat steak is wonderful..steak is tender and juicy…

JessKT — Google review

Has big rig parking. Slots are tight, and ....spent over $1000 and not a big win over $50. You also have to pay .50 cents per hand for table games. The breakfast buffet was worth it, though. I agree with one of the reviews that says NEVERWIN casino.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

The Oklahoma City Zoo is a sprawling 119-acre attraction that houses over 1,900 animals from various habitats. Visitors can enjoy up-close encounters with creatures like sea lions, rhinos, and brown bears on behind-the-scenes tours. For those seeking less intimidating interactions, there are interactive habitats such as the Flamingo Mingle and the Herpetarium Wetlands Walkway.

We went on the first nice Saturday of the spring and it was super crowded. The overflow parking was across the street at the racetrack. Other than the long walk to and from the car, once inside, it wasn't bad. With all of the new expansions, the exhibits were all comfortable to get around. It was the first time I had been to the zoo in close to 10 years. It is certainly not the same as when I was a kid. The new elephant area is huge and all the animals have so much room to roam around. No more little cages for any of the animals. The Asia experience is beautiful and I can't wait to go back when the Africa section is also complete. That being said, with all of the updates the cost has also increased quite a bit. I believe that you can still bring a picnic lunch inside as well as your own snacks. We ate at the Cafe by the sting rays and for 3 kid drinks, fries, a hamburger, and chicken strips it was almost $50! 🤯 Wear comfortable shoes, because you will be walking a lot!

We had a fantastic time at the OKC Zoo! Everything was very clean, and it was a wonderful experience for both adults and kids. Definitely plan for more than 4 hours if you want to see everything, especially with little ones – there’s a lot of walking and a few areas with hills. The Christmas lights decorations were beautiful and incredibly creative; our kids were mesmerized by them. The zoo also offers a generous 50% discount if you have food stamps, which was a nice surprise. My only suggestion would be to add a few more dining options throughout the park. We couldn’t see all the animals due to time, but we’ll definitely be back. Overall, it was a memorable day for the whole family!

Hassan S — Google review

Clean, spacious. I loved how close all the animals seemed to be. And they were all out. Went on a week day. Which seemed to be wise.We brought our own food.I loved some of the artwork that made it feel like Oklahoma.Lot of shade and different picnic areas.I will say, they had plenty of maps. But they needed more dang signs!

I always love going to the OKC Zoo. It's gotten even better being able to go with my niece. She adores everything she sees and I love being able to experience the zoo with a fresh set of eyes. Prior to her, the zoo has always had a soft spot in my head due to my favorite cousin taking me whenever he got the chance to. I will always cherish the memories I make at the zoo

Rayven G — Google review

2023 Safari Lights drive and walk through reservation. $70 for a car with up to 4 walk passes. It's about an hour and a half to see it all, but give yourself 2 hours. The drive was nice with more animals and peaceful, quiet, or Christmas music and heat. It only costs $7 more for 4 people to do the drive and walk than just the walk through, so that is the way to go, but you must order online in advance to reserve your time slot. I'm not sure it is something we will do every year, but it was very nice. The walk was nice with some interaction activities and places for photo opportunities. There were concessions around where you could warm up, and I saw some people cooking marshmallows. At the entrance, there is a light show all around that lasts for about 6 songs (+- 9 min) or so and then gives a 3 minute countdown before restarting. Wish there were longer paths to walk as we saw it all relatively quickly.

We love this zoo. There are so many fun animals to see and the layout makes it easy to get around without missing any of them. There are a lot of fun shows that the whole family enjoyed. We loved the elephant one. You can also feed the stingrays which is fun. It wasn’t very expensive either.

Stephanie O — Google review

Wow. Just wow. I have been to zoos all over the country and this has to be one of my favorites. Beautiful scenery and all the core animal exhibits. Just missing a panda bear. I guess no back door connections with Chinese government :)Be prepared to do a lot of walking. The zoo is really spread out. I do wish the signage was a bit better as the trails twist a lot and easy to get turned around. I was trying to make it to the elephants, but ended up on the other end of the zoo.The only area that I thought was a dude was the raptor area. Pretty dull with not much there. I did enjoy African safari area the most. Could get very close to the animals.I found the zoo very scenic and beautiful. I really enjoyed just walking around it. Lots of elevation change and it is very well maintained clean.

We have gone so many times with the purchase of the annual unlimited access tickets, best deal you can get. After 7 times back to back pretty much we still have so many things to learn about and explore, it seems like they have something new every time we go. Well done OKC zoo!

Randhier R — Google review

Coming from St. Louis where the zoo is free, it’s hard to beat that, but this zoo is definitely in the top 3 that we’ve been to! The habitats were large and beautifully done. There were a few areas we had to do some backtracking to see everything because of the layout, but it was worth it to see all the animals! We missed the mountain lion the first time around but saw them out on our second pass. The bats in the barn area were my favorite—such a unique thing to watch them active! We were supposed to feed the rhinos and had prepaid for it, but the rhino didn’t want to participate. They refunded the money we had paid for the rhino feeding tickets without any issue. We had a great time!

What an AMAZING BEAUTIFUL CLEAN park. So, my family and I are travelers all across this country. One of our favorite things to do while in cities is visit the Zoo. This zoo is one of the best we have ever been to. The large enclosures, the cleanliness, access you get to see behind the scenes, the amount of avaliable educational material you consume, and the ergonomic layout is unbelievable. We certainly will come back. Super cool

This is one of the best zoos I have ever been to. The staff was incredible! They were all friendly and kind, even in redirecting the kids to keep the animals safe. The zoo was interactive and the animals were social. Very kid friendly.

Jamie V — Google review

It was busier than I thought it would be on a Monday! But it was still fun. The weather was cloudy and I think that may have affected how many animals we got to see. Overall this zoo is very kid friendly and has a lot of fun exhibits. This zoo def has some hills and the train/trolly ride is WELL worth it. Because you can hop off and on or ride it around to look at the animals. All of the staff was nice and we got snacks and drinks which were all good! There are cute little photo spots with statues of the animals which is great. The pavilion is also really cool and has water for kids to play in. It was indeed a good zoo to visit and we will indeed be back!

Stephanie M — Google review

Great zoo! For adults, they do have places that sell alcohol but expect it to be 10 dollar beers, I bought two beers and two waters and it came out to 30 dollars. The exhibits are all nice, and the animals are all well taken care of!Military discount is half off tickets and they also have other discount programs for big brother/sister and I believe discounted tickets for the elderly.

Justin E — Google review

This zoo is so far the best one I’ve been to. I love that there are many possible angles that allow you to be able to view the animals. There was a lot of specific information for the individual animals themselves. The staff was super friendly and provided a ton of information as well. We had a chance to watch the lungfish working on his feeding training. I love all the planned upgrades. Highly recommended!!

Roxanne E — Google review

It was busy but we had a great time. Most of the animals were able to be viewed either outside the enclosure or inside relaxing. My favorite are the tortoises, giraffes and elephants but the petting zoo and cuddling up goats definitely brings a smile to your face.

I love going here with family and friends, we always have an amazing experience and there's so much to do at the zoo, you don't just get to watch the animals but can interact and learn so much about the animals with the events they host! Its super cute when they do the christmas lights here, too! It also makes me happy to see the animals are pretty well taken care of !! Kudos to all the staff that works here to make it an amazing experience everytime!

First time visiting this zoo. We went on a Friday in November and got there right as they opened. Plenty of parking close to the front and no wait to get in. It was a bit tricky navigating the zoo and they didn't have paper maps to take, but there were large maps posted around the zoo and a QR version available. Some sections were blocked off due to construction, but I didn't feel like it impeded our tour or took away from anything. I don't know what all we missed from those blocks though. Most of the animals were available to see minus a few due to cool weather (Tortoises, Lion cubs, Bears, Orangutans, Komodo Dragon). Got to see a Cougar walk along the fence/window several times and hear it meow/chirp.The park was clean and pretty empty until closer to 10am. Would recommend going if you haven't seen it before or returning after the construction is finished.

Ashleigh D — Google review

We loved the zoo. They let you get closer to some animals than most other zoos. The bears put on a show for us. We got to see 3 different animals get fed. Even though it stormed for a bit, it was so much fun. Here are 3 photos of the zoo. We 100% lived in the moment and did not take a lot of pictures.

Small T — Google review

W😱W!! I wish we had more time to explore!! And I wish it was cooler but the misting fans around the facilities, waterfalls, and a/c indoor exhibits made it much more bearable. Every zoo I've been too always advertise elephants but then never have them. I was so incredibly happy to see the Asian elephants. The mommas and and babies. Oh I could sit and just watch them all day. We took advantage and fed all the animals at the encounters. My favorite were the little birds. I did feel we were robbed on the giraffe feeding. $5 for 2 small leaves. Other zoos usually give you 5 big romaine lettuce leaves. It didn't take away from the over visit but I wouldn't pay for that encounter feed again. We paid for the camel ride for our daughter. So cool. Where else can you ride a camel?!?We ate chicken strips at the little restaurant there. We got the 4 piece and fries. These were very hot and tasty.I love the animal hospital. During our visit we got to see a small team work on a bird that had been overly aggressive. We weather a procedure to help control its anger issues lolThe lady there was very nice and answers all our questions. After 5 hours and temps near 100 degrees we were exhausted. I didn't have anymore walk in my legs. I wish I did but would definitely go back!!

Jessica A — Google review

I enjoyed the experience a lot. Some of the animals looked stressed which was the only disappointing factor of this Zoo. I dislike the idea of zoos but OKC has amazing programs that help animals all the time. The zoo was a bit hard to navigate in the beginning, but it was fun and enjoyable to see the variety of animals. I loved the herpetarium and the night cave. The giraffe feeding was also great, the caretaker was knowledgeable and provided me with fun and interesting facts. I recommend going on a cooler day, as the walk and heat can take you out.

Leo T — Google review

Definitely a must visit and worth every penny. Lots and lots of animals covering various species. The zoo is huge. A 3-4 hour walk is enough to cover most of the place. A map is placed in every corner for routes and one of the guides near the map at the entrance was super helpful to show us the route for a place we needed to visit. The old man deserves a kudos for his enthusiasm towards helping customers. Though it's a zoo, I felt the animals have a good eco system built for them and they were very well maintained. All the wild animals were playful and it seemed they were enjoying themselves. I've been to several zoos before but this one stood out because of the huge ecosystem, healthy animals and proper guides at the zoo. It was an absolute fun!

Harsha D — Google review

Had a wonderful time at the zoo per usual! However I forgot my ice chest, so had to purchase drinks and things! But I of course think it's great that they even allow you to bring your own food and drinks! I love the animals and my kids always have a great time! If you don't have a stroller you can rent wagons and things, or even wheel chairs!

Laynuh L — Google review

I visited the OKC Zoo for the first time on a hot day with temperatures reaching 95 degrees. Despite the heat, the experience was quite enjoyable. The zoo is well-maintained with a great variety of animals and plenty of shaded areas and indoor exhibits to escape the sun. However, the drinks were extremely expensive, so I highly recommend bringing your own. Overall, it was a good visit and I’m looking forward to returning, hopefully on a cooler day!

Ranjit S — Google review

We went on a Saturday afternoon in April and the zoo was incredibly packed. People will not hesitate to cut you off while walking. Due to the heat, many of the animals were sleeping or hiding. Notably the bears. We weren’t able to see any of the bears on this day. The monkeys and gorillas were definitely the most active animals on this day. The tram ride is $6 per person and I would recommend that on hot days. The cool part about the tram is that they provide you with unique animal facts and the zoo’s history as you are riding and seeing the animal exhibits. The bird feeding is $4 per person and I thought that it was ridiculous that I had to pay $4 just to walk in and watch my family members feed birds that didn’t want to eat. Bring your own drinks because we waited in line for 30 minutes to spend $25 on drinks that would have been $8 or less at any overpriced gas station across the state. Despite the sometimes disappointing price points and waits, the employees were incredibly friendly across the zoo. I would recommend going on a cooler day and during the week if you can.

Drew — Google review

We have been going to the zoo for years and the updates they have made are amazing! Especially the giraffe area. Much better viewing! Great playground areas for children too.

Rhonda T — Google review

The zoo is very large but it doesn't mean it has more animals. The habitat overall for each animal is a lot larger so there is more places for the animals to hide. It will take a little more effort to find the animals especially on hot days. Best time to come is right when the zoo open at 9 to see the animals out and eating. It will take about 5 hours to see the whole zoo. There are maps posted at many locations but the layout is a little confusing. They have free tram rides to take you to parts of the zoo. Decent amount of shady area. It's a combination with botanical garden but there wasn't that many flowers displayed or designated garden. Gift shop was ok needs some updating to get more customers in the door. Best part for me was the animal hospital. Not many zoos displays that and unique to this zoo. Best to buy tickets online so you can scan and go in without waiting in line to buy tickets

Heritage museum

Sights & Landmarks

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the history of the American West. The museum showcases dioramas, artifacts, and art that document and interpret the rich heritage of cowboy culture. Settled by pioneers during the 1889 Land Run, Oklahoma City has deep roots in cowboy country and is home to former cattle trails, ranches, and birthplace of numerous Western film stars and entertainers.

This was my first time visiting this museum. I was VERY impressed. There was a myriad of paintings, artifacts, displays of western gear, weapons, ropes, barbed wire and MANY bronze statues, including Remington's. I took over 400 photographs that I plan to make a slideshow with for my YouTube page. At 1:00 P.M. I went on a guided tour with a very knowledgeable docent that was very enjoyable. I highly recommend this museum.

Steve S — Google review

Seriously one of the most unique museums I’ve ever been to! Been to a lot about native America but not necessarily focused on western America. I enjoyed the couple hours I spent being taking back into time. Fitting to have this place in Oklahoma too!

CJ ( — Google review

This is a really informative and well organized museum. I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging the artwork, history, and sculptures were. It took 1-2 hours to cover the museum and I went on a "Bank of America Museums on Us" free weekend. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the Oklahoma City area!

Highly recommend!! What an incredible museum. My husband and I spent over 5 hours just looking at all the beautiful art and countless exhibits. The gift shop also has all sorts of things like Indian jewelry, clothing and gifts at very reasonable prices. If you get hungry, make sure you stop by Hanks BBQ down the road for some amazing food!

Liz M — Google review

We all had a great time here, our party included parents and a 16 yr old as well as a 4 year old. This museum is massive and you could spend hours inside and then even more outside. The collections of art, memorabilia, antiques, replicas, etc are just enthralling to go through. There is no shortage of items to look and learn about in this massive museum. The old west replica town is so immersive, you feel like you are in a western. It is so well put together and several buildings you can actually go in and take really cute photos. I agree that the native American side of western history is severely lacking here - but the title does have COWBOY most prominent and that is what you will find here. Tons of cowboy history. From the wild west to the movies to the rodeo and beyond. I really wasn't expecting the massive structures outside of the museum but it is truly a sight to see. I recommend allotting plenty of outside time, especially if you are there with younger children. There is a playground, interactive areas and lots of immersive play opportunities. The people that complain about this museum must just hate life. My only complaint I have from our visit was that my four year old wanted to rush us through everything and I felt jipped on my experience there! I guess I will just have to go back!!

Jessica H — Google review

I would highly recommend coming here! Very informative and very well put together. Whoever designed the gardens outside did a very beautiful job. This is the perfect place to spend your morning or afternoon. It was nice to learn about all the local history and the museum is very well maintained inside and outside which made the experience way more enjoyable. Friendly and informative staff. I would recommend this place to anyone! Probably one of my favorite museums I’ve ever been to!:)

This is a wonderful museum, especially for kids. The outdoor play and explore areas are amazing!!! The indoor western town is our favorite!!!! Lots of helpers to answer questions. Tickets are a little high, so make sure to spend all day there.Tepes and huts to explore, cattle to wrangle, water falls, and throwing people in jail! It's a BLAST!

Sarah P — Google review

Nat'l Cowboy museum was nice however, is was really alot of walking and a series of mazes which may cause you to miss a section or area. There were some pictures that I didn't understand the relationship to the cowboys or western idea but thern some were for sale by Artists that were displaying orther paintings so well.. maybe museum politics? The guides were very knowledgeable and helpful but there was an area where I felt that I was being pushed to believe something about Texas and I was forced to quickly look up a map of the State of Texas during its time as a Republic before a part of it was sold off to pay for expenses incurred while battling Gen. Santa Anna/Mexican Army. Overall, was great but expect to have tired feet that night at bed time as we stayed about 5 hrs looking. Enjoy!

I enjoyed the national cowboy more than any other museum to date! This museum is massive and has so many incredible displays for all ages and includes all genres of cowboy lifestyles.I highly recommend having an entire day to visit this place! The price is worth it! There are just tons of rooms and different types of displays, literally something for everyone here!

My visit to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum was a truly memorable experience. One of the highlights for me was exploring the outdoor Native American living quarters. It was fascinating to see how Native Americans lived and worked, and the attention to detail in the recreation of the living quarters was impressive. In addition to the outdoor exhibits, the museum itself is full of fascinating artifacts and exhibits that showcase the history and culture of the American West. From cowboy gear to Native American art, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The museum also offers a range of educational programs and events, making it a great destination for families and anyone interested in learning more about the history of the American West.Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. It's a great way to experience the rich history and culture of the American West in a fun and engaging way.

Amazing art and exhibits! Plenty of hands on activities for kids and a wide open play area. The interactive rodeo exhibit was a kid favorite, plus the replica old town square was a great place for the kids to experience what it might have been like to live in the ‘Wild West.’

Ryan W — Google review

If you appreciate the American West, you can easily spend the majority of the day here enjoying all that this magnificent museum has to show. With the various exhibits rotating through, there are always new things to experience. If you enjoy reading all the details, plan to spend several hours here.If you have kids with you - they have four treasure hunts going on and a few stations for kids to work through activities - average of 2-3 hours and the kids have seen it all and you have seen it at 1.5-2x the speed that you would have wanted to see it!!So, let me recommend for the adults without kids - go have a large brunch, then, leisurely walk through in six hours +/- (to read all the things) and enjoy some of the most beautiful and breathtaking pieces our collective history has to share. It is worth spending half the day here. Some of my favorites are in the photos of this review... The giant paintings have been a favorite of mine since I first saw them - and I am in absolute awe every time I walk into that room.

Took my grandkids, and we loved it!2 disappointments though: they don't accept cash at the food place in there, and I couldn't find my Grandads photography on the walls that used to be there. But other than that, we had the BEST time!

Had a wonderful time at the national cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Bought tickets at the gate and was able to roam around all of the exhibit. I joined a tour which covered a lot of western history involving the trappers and firearms along with some of the clothing that was worn during those, early 1900sStopped at the gift store on the way out and got a T-shirt !I will be returning for a gala, which there ballroom is perfectly suited for, very beautiful art.

Absolutely, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip to the States. Loved everything about this place and tbh I'm not normally a museum person. Staff were fantastic, art was stunning and every area was superbly presented. Highly highly recommend 💯💯💯

Probably one of the best museums in OKC for families. There is something that will interest everyone in your group. From art, to history of the rodeo to several kids activities. Been there several times and it never disappoints. Throughout the year they have large scale events such as the Chuck Wagon festival (late May) and much more. Be sure to follow them on social media for upcoming events.

Went with my 90 year old dad and 44 year old daughter. We all loved the entire museum! Worth every dime!!! Dad loved all the old cowboys and told us all about most of the. Great memories!!

Huge museum with amazing displays. Also has a whole wing dedicated to art. Things to do both indoor and outdoor. Small cafe on site with indoor and outdoor seating. Also has space for events. Plenty of parking.

This is a fun, informative, and unique museum in OKC. This was my first stop after I flew in. They had a lot of beautiful artworks that all were so different in their own way.I had a lot of fun here and I recommend it to fellow tourists or just anyone interested in cowboys!

Excellent! So much to see here so plan to be here for a few hours. The right side has a bit more things to see and read than the left I think personally. Don't forget to go outside! I will be back because I know I missed some things and what an awesome National Cowboy Museum. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly and ready to give important facts about wherever you were in the museum.Plenty of parking. They have a small cafe. Didn't eat food so cannot give an opinion. Ticket prices were good, they did offer us a disabled vet discount so that was nice.Go check this museum out!

Absolutely loved the experience! Had a conference nearby and we had opportunity to stroll privately through this place. As a New Yorker who loves museums 10/10. Their private event space was amazing.

Great museum to visit! Well curated collections to tell the story of the American West with artifacts, built out sets, activities, interactive story boards, and every medium of art imaginable. It was easy to spend an afternoon here, enjoying the history and learning so much along the way both inside and out.

Costly tickets (20$/ person), get a discounted ticket if u have a student ID($12) . It's a nice place to visit though. Huge stunning statues and vibrant paintings some of which were 3-d and lifelike. There is a 20th century city setup called 'prosperity junction' which was my favourite - they displayed how 20th century bank, shops, home, police station, classroom and churches looked like. This museum is a good exhibit where we get to experience how native Americans used to live and survive with shelter and other natural resources. Even if you're not a museum lover, I'd recommend you to visit this place!

Had a lovely time. The exhibits were extensive and informative! Appreciated they told the story from both Indian and cowboy. Thought the western indoor town recreation was just so cool!

A hidden gem in Central Oklahoma. Saw Celtic Throne as they began their 2023 tour. A premier venue for musical concerts. The venue is beautiful with comfortable seats and amazing acoustics. Staff is super friendly and willing to assist. A definite must for musical performances .

T W — Google review

Our first time to visit this auditorium, and we were not disappointed! Beautiful facility and the acoustics were great for performances. We saw the Celtic Throne, and the talent of these young adults and kids was amazing. Plenty of informed staff to help with doors, directions, history and parking. Small parking lots but the staff moved traffic in and out safely and quickly.

A beautiful little hidden jewel of a venue--who knew that north of Edmond, OK, such a gem existed? Set in lush, immaculate grounds, with a gleaming water sculpture, birds aflight, it is a magical place. Inside, plush trimmings, extra comfy seats, and a theater large enough for such luminaries as Renee Fleming, yet intimate enough to hear every note and feel at one with the artist. Management is people-focused, with attentive care to any concern, and accommodating patrons' needs with great kindness and sensitivity. Find any reason to go. You will love it!

My cheeks hurt from smiling! My hands hurt from clapping! My voice gone from screaming! And my mind, soul and strength recharged from the message! What a rush! The acoustics at Armstrong Auditorium quake!! Thank you to all the crew and staff, amazing hospitality. Finding a parking spot was a delight, quick and easy being directed by traffic control through the beautiful campus both arrival and departure. Can't wait to come back!!

My group had a wonderful evening at Renee Fleming's Concert...Fabulous! We loved looking at Solomon's Temple Exhibition. The lovely students were most impressive sharing their experiences in Israel on digs. Most enjoyable evening. Jean Burke,Kaye Kloberdantz, Glenda Talbot, and Jackie Jones. Jackie had never been in the Armstrong Auditorium.... Could not believe we had such a beautiful venue in Oklahoma. We will certainly be back. Jean Burke

Celtic Throne was simply AWESOME!!!! The dancers were OUTSTANDING even the little ones, with great energy, charisma and flair!!!! The singers were GREAT and the musicians were PHENOMENOL with so much energy and excitement!!!!This was our 1st time at the Armstrong Auditorium and this place was BEAUTIFUL!!!! We look forward to attending more performances!!

Unbelievable venue. Rivals or better than OKC Civic Music Hall, yet so easy to get in and out without going to the city. Something to be said for the civility of a semi-formal evening seeing everyone dressed up and an abundance of young, attentive and respectful ushers. The Aznavoorinan Sisters were superb in talent, execution and selection.

My wife and I saw the Glenn Miller Orchestra Thursday, April 4th at Armstrong. It was our first time with this orchestra and at this venue. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend both. The auditorium is beautiful throughout and the three giant chandeliers are beyond words. The orchestra was nothing short of outstanding and the musical selections were excellent. The only issue was that it was difficult to hear vocals due to the volume of the instruments. This was not a major issue and would not stop me from coming back. Overall it was still a great 5-star experience.

We enjoyed the show Celtic Throne very much! Outstanding talent! Lots of variety! The location is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for an amazing time!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Celtic Throne. The dancers and musicians were outstanding and the music and light show were exception. The grounds of the auditorium are gorgeous and well kept. Over the top as always. Try not to miss any of the performances. The stream came through flawlessly and we and those watching with us are inspired by the 100% effort put in by all involved. Thank you. We will be making the 10 hour trip to Nashville for the June 10th performance to be able to see it live for the very first time.

R F — Google review

Sound and video quality on the live stream was excellent. Ideally, it would have been great to have an additional camera for close ups, but of course that would mean a producer for switching cameras in real time so I get that that's a lot more complicated. Show 10/10!

The perfomance of Celtic Throne was phenomenal! I've seen it once in person and many times on DVD and it is beautiful every time. I can't help but picture Jesus and the angels dancing along with them! Thank you for the great love that you all have put into this !

Renee Fleming is a Treasure in the world of singing. I have sung with her, seen her at The Met, in Chicago Lyric, and in concert here before. Museum

Sights & Landmarks

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is a poignant tribute to the victims of the 1995 Murrah Building bombing. The memorial features a reflective pool and a garden, along with 168 chairs representing each victim of the attack, including 19 children who were in the building's daycare. The museum provides in-depth information about the bombing and Timothy McVeigh's trial, offering visitors context for their visit.

A beautiful memorial in the heart of Oklahoma City. This memorial plays an amazing role in keeping the memories of those lost, as well as those affected by the events, alive. It is so well thought out. Walk outside the memorial to find the chain link fence and spend some time reading notes to lost loved ones. Pay attention to the black painted brick on the museum which shows where windows were blown out and fresh brick in the building. These unique features all add to the magnitude of the true memorial area. I would say parking was ample, but for whatever reason...hard to find (more so know the cost and if it was public parking or not). Don't get me wrong, there is PLENTY of parking in the area. We did not tour the museum, but I wish we would've. We did enter the museum to see the gift shop and use the restroom. I'd rank this as a "must see" memorial.

M N — Google review

This is a beautiful museum with an excellent lesson in history. We went on a Friday afternoon. There were a lot of schools there and I have to say the students were great and very respectful. Even though there are only 2 floors it took us almost 2 hours and thirty minutes to visit. The short videos and reading was well worth the time. The staff is friendly and the museum store isn’t pricey at all. If, you have a chance please go visit.

Renee P — Google review

There is parking in the Memorial Parking Garage. Don't forget to validate your parking ticket at the counter so that parking is free. The museum is structured chronologically. Starting a few minutes before the attack until the erection of the memorial site. This memorial is already exceptional during the day. If you can, visit after sunset when the chairs and gates are illuminated.

Peter S — Google review

Definitely a great museum where you can learn about a critical piece of Oklahoma history. It's very well done in how they set the stage and show you the impact of the bombing, the story of the investigation, and the community moving forward from the event. It's definitely a placard/reading heavy museum with a decent amount of videos to sit and watch. Young kids should be able to be kept interested for at least an hour with all the videos and exploring. Adults, far longer. They also will search your bags if you bring in a medium to large size bag.

Chih C — Google review

The OKC National Memorial is so very moving and sobering. The field of chairs, each baring the name of a person who perished that infamous day, induces so many tears, especially when taking into account the small chairs representing innocent children who should have been safe in their daycare setting. The Memorial was very well planned out and built.

Marzale F — Google review

A phenomenal and powerful experience. Visiting the memorial to those who died that fateful day was incredibly moving. A beautiful tribute to those who lost their lives. The museum itself is extremely well done. I left there with a much greater understanding of the tragic events of that day, what led up to them, and what took place in the aftermath. The artifacts they have recovered and put on display were very impressive and eye-opening.I highly recommend visiting.

Jason M — Google review

Still remember it like it was yesterday, as a senior in HS about to graduate. So sad and powerful to see the chairs, which represent approximately where the victims were in the building. Seeing all the small chairs of children that were in the daycare is heartbreaking. A well-done memorial that is ranger-patrolled for any questions or discussion about the event and venue.

FFKDTP1 — Google review

We visited the memorial early on a Saturday morning, just after sunrise. It was completely still, with no one else there except the security guard doing his rounds. Only the slight sound of the water flowing off the edges of the reflecting pool broke the silence. Everything about the memorial is beautiful and tastefully done; it is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives that morning at 9:02 and others who were affected by the tragedy. Definitely worth visiting, even without touring the museum.

Randy S — Google review

Unbelievable amount of research and detail went into this exhibit. Very well laid out to put "You" into the event, before, during, after. The entire museum was laid out in a way that allowed visitors their choice to get both an overall feel, or dig down to some of the smallest details.I was very impressed with the sheet quantity of actual artifacts from the event, some of surprising size like the actual getaway car and the Star/marquee from the motel he stayed in. A couple of my favorite artifacts were the actual badge of the Highway Patrol officer and the 4 citations he wrote when he stopped him, and booties from the search dogs. The layout of the chairs memorializing the 168 deaths was both moving and informative, showing the bomb damage radius.

William S — Google review

This was gut wrenching, all those people, and children dead because of some person's personal hate. I walked away with a heavy heart. I mourn with the family's that lost loved ones. This country, and some of the people living here, might want to invest in some empathy. It was, for me, beyond my understanding, and tragically sad.

Elaine M — Google review

This place brings back memories of the actual day of the bombing. In person, it becomes more horrific than observing the news feeds. So much devastation, so many lives effected.

Joyce D — Google review

A truly moving experience and one that should not be overlooked if you are in the Oklahoma City area. We made a special trip just to see this memorial and museum and were certainly so glad that we did.The memorial is very well curated with every detail covered relative to the timeline of events, evidence collected, and apprehension of the perpitrators. A large part of the memorial is dedicated to the stories of those that were lost as well as those that survived (some with harrowing stories about being in the right place at the right time).Everything is laid out is a meaningful way and with symbolic reference to the events of the day. Read as much as you can as there is so much more to the memorial grounds then what your eyes can take in at a first and second glance.

Gary W — Google review

A moving and powerful experience. The people of Oklahoma really came together and handled the tragedy with selflessness. I liked the organization of the exhibit and how it started from a regular day, into an actual audio recording, the trauma oh the explosion, the first responder response, the investigation, arrest, trials, and healing. Additionally the outdoor memorial is very touching and meaningful.

Justin W — Google review

So glad we stopped here. It's a beautifully done memorial to all the victims of the Oklahoma bombing. Definitely a sombering experience but Park Ranger, Dan McKee was there to answer all our questions and explain some things to us that we were not aware of. Kudos to this excellent Park Ranger.

AMAZING! They did an amazing job with this memorial.Extremely touching and informative. It puts you in that moment on that terrible day. You feel the chaos, the fear, the pain, hurt, every emotion runs through you aside from happiness. Walking through the memorial garden and the room with all the pictures literally takes your breath away it's so painful seeing everything. They do an amazing job and I will be back. Be prepared to cry because you will. Be prepared to be angry because you will. Be prepared to be touched because you definitely will.

There are no words that encapsulate what a beautifully moving memorial this is. So well put together, and it’s an absolute must see.The memorial does an extraordinary job of painting an accurate and detailed timeline of events. Survivors stories are beautifully interwoven throughout the memorial, and the people lost are lovingly remembered throughout memorial as well. They did a wonderful job of salvaging all they could from the wreckage to create beauty throughout the entire experience, and covered seemingly every detail.Truly an intense, and well put together experience that you cannot miss.

A very moving and interesting place honoring those who lost their lives, and those forever changed on April 19, 1995. I remember when it happened - I was 9 - but there are so many other details to this day… such as the hearts of local Oklahomans who responded to the need for help and provided a surplus in a time of need.A powerful place of honor and memory.Highly recommend a visit.

Amy — Google review

This is a lovely memorial to such a tragic event. I cried walking around here, especially seeing the smaller chairs that represented the children who were killed. They did a great job of making it a peaceful place for honoring the victims and survivors and for reflection. There is a nice video walking tour on their website that explains the meaning behind everything. I didn't see it until after our visit, but it was good to learn about it.We didn't know there was a parking garage, and Google Maps took us to the west side, so we parked in a lot across the street and paid $1 for that. We didn't go inside the museum, but just walking the grounds was significant.

K O — Google review

Such a powerful experience! The memorial gives a wonderful tribute to the lives lost that tragic day and also paying tribute to good of humanity to came to help. The memorial grounds were a perfect place to sit and contemplate. The museum took you through all the events of the day where you could spend hours learning every detail of the event. Learning the victim and survivor stories was really powerful! If you’re traveling through OKC, visiting here is a must!

Matthew H — Google review

Came here towards the end of my OKC trip. I knew it would be sad, but the way the museum was arranged told a progressive story of hope. There were plenty of pictures and physical remnants. About 1 hour to walk through or 90 minutes if you sit and watch all the videos. Loved how many of the displays were dynamic with visual effects playing over them. The time plaques gave a better sense of what happened during the critical first day.The grandest part for me was the memorial gallery with photos of all 168 survivors and memento for each. They’re not just names; they’re full color photos, some toys, and a short description of who each person was in life. Unexpectedly, I encountered ghosts in there. Most of them seemed to be children. They rushed me as I walked in, all vying for attention. Guess it’s not often they meet someone sensitive to them 😅Outside, the reflection pool and yard containing the 168 chairs was gorgeous. There were many blue dragonflies flitting over the water. The energy was high, better than most parks I’ve been to. Only wish I could see them lit up at night.

Pauline — Google review

This is a beautiful and solemn memorial dedicated to the 168 people who lost their lives in the 1995 bombing. Words are not adequate to capture the emotions brought on here, only a walk through these halls can relay those. I can't imagine a better way to remember and honor the victims, rescuers, and city that came together after this tragic event

Excellent tribute to the citizens of Oklahoma City bombing along with victims and survivors. Very well put together museum and many exhibits the outdoor memorial is beautiful and serene. The state park ranger, Dan was very informative and helpful. The museum and memorial was a beautiful tribute to the perseverance of the state. Price was very reasonable and has a gift shop. Ticket lady was very nice. A great visit for a self tour, very well laid out. Very nice and clean restrooms. Very accessible

This was a beautiful memorial to honor the 168 people who were taken too soon from their family and friends. It is a lovely tribute that encompasses so much from the impact of what happened on that horrible day.Highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the area. It's amazing during the day but a whole different experience at night when everything is lit up. If possible, visit at both times.

The Oklahoma City National Memorial is a profound testament to resilience and healing, honoring the victims of the tragic bombing on April 19, 1995. This sacred site beautifully encapsulates the spirit of Oklahoma and the strength of its people. The design is both haunting and hopeful, with the iconic Chairs representing each of the 168 lives lost, reminding visitors of the profound impact of that day.Walking through the memorial, one can feel a deep sense of reverence and solidarity. The reflecting pool serves as a serene space for contemplation, symbolizing peace and the passage of time. The Survivor Tree stands tall, a powerful emblem of endurance and renewal, embodying the unwavering spirit of the community. This memorial is not just a place of remembrance; it’s a call to action for unity and compassion. It encourages reflection on our shared values and the importance of standing together in the face of adversity. As visitors, we leave with a renewed sense of patriotism and commitment to fostering a safer, more inclusive society. The Oklahoma City National Memorial stands as a beacon of hope, ensuring that the lessons learned from tragedy will not be forgotten.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Tiger Safari Zoological Park, located in Tuttle, Oklahoma, is a 45-acre habitat for a variety of wildlife including tigers, bears, lemurs, lions, leopards and other African wildcats. The non-profit organization not only provides a home for these majestic creatures but also offers interactive encounters and educational tours to teach visitors about the importance of caring for them. The park features sunset safaris and interactive games suitable for all ages.

My family was visiting from Utah. We went here and showed up right in time for the VIP tour. Which includes 10 animals being brought out that you can pet, and the zoo. We all had a great time! The staff were all great. The animals are very well cared for. We will definitely go again and want to do the over night experience!

K W — Google review

We had a great experience, the workers are kind and seem to care a lot about the animals. The habitats were okay, I’m definitely an animal enthusiast and I feel that some of them were small, some animals looks a little sick. But the VIP experience was so great, like I said the workers were awesome. We stayed in hut #2 and it was great for our three boys and two parents. Some cons: it had one bathroom, it wasn’t the cleanest (dusty, a bit smelly..I mean it is at a zoo, and the sheets smelled a bit used), the TVs didn’t work since WiFi is non existent in the housing. If you wanted to watch a movie you had to get a DVD from the office. The boys said it was one of their favorite experiences ever! That made it all worth it. Also, we heard lions roaring at night! So that was cool too. I recommend going.

Lauren C — Google review

Had a mini getaway with my husband. We stayed in one of the treehouses overlooking the tigers, we got to see the bear early in the morning even though we weren't able to during our tour. Since it was Saturday we had the option to join in with others at a big bonfire, however we decided to opt out and have our own little bonfire at the fire-pit in the treehouse. We also did the Mega VIP tour the next morning. We woke up super early and got to see the sunrise.Definetly recommend staying there. Will be back soon to stay a bit longer. Here are some of the many pictures we took.

Ana O — Google review

We stayed overnight in the huts. The pictures don’t do it justice. The huts have AC and were a nice, cool break from the sun outside. The beds were comfortable and everyone slept well. There is a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. We opted to eat out in the town and it was great.Staying at the zoo we were able to have an animal encounter shortly after arriving. We got to know the animals and then take a break at the huts. We went back later that evening when jt was cool to see the animals again. At night you can sit outside and listen to the lions roar!It felt amazing waking up and sipping coffee by the pond, watching the turtles. The zoo is so open, relaxing, and clean! The animals all seem so happy! We will defiantly be back in the fall to visit again.

Hana A — Google review

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. I rented one of the large African Manors. The accommodations were absolutely incredible. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything that we needed. Meaning a lot of the stuff I brought was completely unnecessary. The atmosphere the nighttime view the sounds of the animals as the sun sets and it starts to cool off. The experience is just incredible. I brought my two adult children to spend the evening with me we cooked out on the patio Enjoyed the beautiful view from the fountain, lit pond and basically had a private roam of the park after the sunset I cannot recommend this experience enough to anybody. It would be an incredible place for a family reunion a great place for a first date night, you name it, and these animals are taken care of. You can tell that they are loved , I love this place so much that I want to come and volunteer out here whenever they need me. Spend the money spend and the time with your family. The experience of being so close to these animals is absolutely breathtaking. It has changed me forever and I would do it again in a heartbeat, and anybody who writes a negative review about this place just has a problem with their life in general, because this place is out standing. Thank you Bill and the lovely lady who gave us our tour as well as the other ladies in the office you have made our experience amazing!

Lori P — Google review

My family and I love this place. We have gone a couple of times now and have stayed in the cabins. The cabins are gorgeous amd worth every dime you spend. I recommend staying a couple of days to get the full experience the park has to offer. They definitely try to provide a lot of activities for family fun and the whole glamping experience. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5, was the gift shop was lacking especially when you're staying several days you would like to be able to purchase more than a very select variety of drinks and snacks. Additionally, we had to park quite a bit aways from our cabin and hauling luggage across gravel, wrangling kids and my mom that is limited with walking, it would have been nice to park by our cabin.

Nikole M — Google review

What a phenomenal place to stay and/or visit! This was our second trip and we had the best time! We got to stay in the water overlook treehouse! Listening to the animals talk back and forth at night while enjoying the beautiful skyline view 💜We stayed the whole weekend and had the VIP experience both days! Let me just say that no 2 VIP experience is the same! Sarah and Amy are phenomenal with the animals and with guests! Our son is autistic and struggled with the reptiles (he says they’re his arch nemesis lol) and they were just so patient and kind to him. Saturday night was the big bonfire in the zoo surrounded by the animals where we roasted marshmallows and chatted with other guests! The first time we visited was in 2020 and we fell in love with the place! Since our last visit they have expanded and added more animals, and more treehouses built since our last visit too!Bill, the owner, is such a great person to sit and talk with too! I love the excitement and passion he gives off when he talks about this place! Next time we visit I just gotta sit down and hear stories of his adventures! There are tons of candid photos displayed around the zoo showing his with the animals in the wild as well as in the park! You can see the genuine love and devotion he has for this place and the animals!Such an amazing weekend all around! We’re already planning another trip back after we get settled in Michigan!! Thanks for an awesome weekend Tiger Safari Zoo!

This is an amazing stop if you are in the area! My wife and I visited on a weekend trip and got the VIP package, we got to hold and pet some amazing exotic animals and even feed a few!All the animals seemed quite healthy and happy 😊The price was reasonable and we stayed for a few hours, they also have cabana rentals that overlook the animals! All in all a great example of a private park.

We went on the fourth of July. So we didn't see many people. The parrot said Hi to us when we walked in. We got the VIP, so we got to hold a coatmundi which is in the raccoon family, a cockatoo, We bottle fed a baby zebra, which was a part of the VIP. The workers there gave us animal crackers to feed the deer and kangaroos. They also gave us monkey treats and we put them in the bucket andthe spider monkey reels it in, the other one you have to do it. We fed a white tabby tiger chicken which is 1/30. I lost my phone there, so we turned around and they brought us in the side by side and we found it. They also gave us 2 free water bottles. It is a family owned zoo.

My daughter turned 16 last week and all she asked to do was go to a zoo because she loves animals. When we found Tiger Safari and saw that it wasn't too far, we booked 3 nights hoping it would be an incredible experience and it sure was! We were able to walk the zoo any time the gate was open and each time we saw something different! The animals are well taken care of and it's obvious that the staff cares deeply for each one. The owner is truly passionate about what he does and is a very nice guy with an incredible story. This is a definite MUST for anyone who enjoys spending time with animals!

My family stayed in treehouse #2, our 4 year old absolutely loved it!! The animals were out and about due to the weather cooling off in the evening so I highly recommend evenings or overcast days. We could hear one of the lions from about 7:00pm to 7:30 am! So cool! We enjoyed the tiger feeding the most during the Mega tour and getting to hold and pet all the animals during the VIP aspect of it! Don’t miss out on the new axe throwing area, it is great for couples as well as safe for families of all ages! We will be back!!

We brought our family for a little getaway and stayed in the African Manor Hut #3. Upon walking up you could tell that the grounds needed just a little bit of attention and care. The manor itself is beautiful. We were really excited to use the big jacuzzi tub to soak and relax before bed. But we couldn't. The water pressure was so bad it would have taken over an hour to fill. Also the water turned cold about 15 minutes into trying. Things were just dusty and dirty like the bare minimum had been done for cleaning. The stove didn't work at all. We were told Upon arriving that it may blow a breaker but we checked and that wasn't the case. It just didn't work. When we made coffee I went to use the creamer and noticed thankfully that it expired in 2022. I went thru the kitchen and threw away a lot of items that were expired that other people had left and just hadn't been checked at all. The bathroom toilet more than a few times had to be messed with so it would fill back up with Water. We were disappointed there was no bonfire after it said there would be on the website but we still had a fire pit on the porch and made our own smores. I know these are all sort of little minor things but when you pay $265 for such a cool accommodation it's just disappointing that some of these things are being neglected. BUT now here's the good! The animal safari part is COOL. You can walk the grounds freely until 10pm and hear the animals all night! It does look a little run down. But the animals are so sweet! We got to touch and hold some of them including the 12 foot python and the baby kangaroo. They give you food to feed the outer door animals So that was really fun as well. The lion jeep encounter they post about online is not even a thing anymore. The glass behind the jeep is so dirty and thick with slime there's no way you'd even see a lion behind it. Everyone there was super nice and you can tell they love those animals! I would definitely recommend staying once for the experience!

This place is awesome and bigger than I thought it would be. The staff are all super friendly. You can feed and hold some animals, if you're in the area, stop and check this place out. It also has the unique Air BnB right above the lions and bear.

We came for my niece and nephew’s birthday party. Birthday parties at the park are amazing! We got an air conditioned party room and then the kids got up and close animal encounters. They got to hold and pet a baby kangaroo, a fox, a python, a red lemur , a hare, a cockatoo, a baby porcupine, a lizard and a baby lemur. The staff were super helpful and friendly. We also got to feed the monkeys and baby deer and had acres to visit the whole zoo.

Bethany B — Google review

This was wonderful! We were looking for something fun on each leg of our drive from California to the east coast. This looked interesting and it is a real gem. The place has so much to see, and the animals were really interesting in us. They came right up to the fence, and I felt that this was really engaging. The kangaroos came right up to us, even with the babies! Tigers, lions, monkeys, lemurs, reptiles and more. If you have the opportunity to check this out, I think you’ll be impressed.

Patrick F — Google review

We came as chaperones for our son’s school field trip and had a blast! Wide space for kids to run off energy but also many animals to enjoy watching and several areas to relax and eat. We will be back with family and friends .

Tonika O — Google review

This place has changed so much. We did the VIP because we happened to walk in 2minutes before it started and got to hold about 10 different animals including a baby kangaroo. Then we were given food to feed deer and monkeys. It was chilly outside but the animals were out and lively. The bathrooms were nice and I loved how healthy the animals looked. Not like arbuckle wilderness. You can tell they are loved and well cared for. They aren’t scared of people at all. It’s safe and fun. The snack places are closed since it’s the off season but I’m hoping to go back and try their treehouse overnight stay in may.

My family and I attend the safari March 9th. We had an amazing time. I was able to hold a baby kangaroo as much as I wanted. I really enjoyed being able to hold several animals. The staff were GREAT. They were super friendly and kind. I will definitely visit again to stay in a cabin.

Was a great experience! Stayed the night and will be back!! Family loved the tree house with the view of the animals! Staff super friendly and very informative. The area was super clean and great to watch and interact with all the animals. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Large cats, lemurs, monkeys, birds, snakes,lizards,deer,chickens....beautiful animals. No gift shop or vending. Misleading advertising. Did not stay at lodging quarter's. All in all, nice variety of animals.

Specialty Museums

The Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton offers an immersive experience into the natural and cultural history of the interior US. It features interactive exhibits, such as an 1830s trading post, schoolhouse, and depot, providing visitors with a glimpse into the lifestyles of different cultures in the region. The museum also boasts intense displays like the Tornado Simulator and Domebo Dig Site.

I absolutely LOVE this place! I ended up buying the family membership for $99 because my kids have so much fun. I was blown away the first time we came because this museum is not what I would expect in the best way. I expected it to be like any other museum where you just read about the history and see all of the art and collections… NOPE… it’s even better. They have a really cool simulator that you sit in and hear the story about terrible Tuesday while feeling like you are THERE experiencing it. They have a beautiful gallery that shows you photos from very, very long ago! It’s just beautiful. It’s a great place for all of the family because they’ve got things for adults and so much interactive things for children to do. I strongly recommend checking it out, it’s worth it… AND right out front of the museum you get to see a bunch of cute little prairie dogs!

Amanda J — Google review

It's a fantastic museum for it's size. Has tons of interactive exhibits to keep children occupied, and just as many displays for those with a longer attention span. Their exhibits cover everything from the Pleistocene to the present. Their Tornado Theater is a great alternative to experiencing a tornado first-hand. I'd recommend this museum for anyone new to the area, or just anyone trying to find a constructive way to kill an hour or two.

Morgan H — Google review

Really get to know the history, and have great interaction for adults and kids alike! The tornado exhibit is a must! If you miss it just ask for it as you will see what looks like "stuff" piled up but walk behind it and you go into a shelter. Press the button to begin the presentation and HANG ON!There is an entry fee but well worth it.

Carl C — Google review

If you are new to the area and want an interactive learning environment for you and your children, then this is the place for you. Visited on a Friday at 1130 and we had the place mostly to ourselves. Started getting a little more busy around 1 pm. Cost was $38 for 2 adults, 1 x 13 yr old, and 1 x 4 yr old. 2 and under get in free. Go check it out!

The less travelled path of Oklahoma, a museum for all ages. With an extensive collection of Native American artifacts, each comes with informative description, or at least speculation, you can easily spend hours without realizing. In fact, the museum has acquired a lot of Native American merchandise from a shop that is already out of business. Furthermore, the exhibits related to the sorrow and sufferings of Native Americans due to forceful displacement are touching. Once scattered across the country, but was confined to a "reservation" known as the land of unorganized territory, the homes of Native Americans further shrank after allotment with the surplus open to settlement at the beginning of the 20th century. This is the sad history of Oklahoma.Another aspect worth noting is that there are lots of interactive exhibits for children to enjoy, including a plastic bison from which younger visitors can learn about anatomy, and a mini archeological experience providing a glimpse of what uncovering artifacts is like. My niece didn't want to leave.

LS F — Google review

Great museum. The interactive exhibits were great. Make sure to do the video on the tornado. Sit down, hit the button, and enjoy. Very well done.

Daniel — Google review

We loved the museum very much and had a lot of fun with the interactives very informative.

Awesome place!! You have to go! My 14 year old daughter and I stopped on our way to the wildlife refuge. She said this was the best part of her day. The gift shop is great and the museum is definitely worth your time. Very impressed. Great staff! Awesome tornado simulation. We really enjoyed it.

Kristi — Google review

This was our first time going and my kids absolutely loved it. Cost was fair. Staff were polite, knowledgeable and helpful. It is rich with history and a fun activity for my elementary aged kids! The adults had fun too.

We stayed in Lawton for the night and looked up what to do there. I found this museum, so we decided to check it out. I'm glad we did. The staff was wonderful. The museum was very informative. If you have children, there were a lot of fun interactive things for them to do. If you want to get a feel for what it was like as the great plains developed, then you should visit this museum. We only had 2 hours, you probably need to allow at least 4 hours, especially if you have children. We had my 94 year old mom with us, and she enjoyed it and was able to get around just fine.

Fred F — Google review

When we visited it had been raining a lot. Apparently, they need some roof work because there were tarps over many displays and large buckets to catch the water. Nice smallish museum. The tornado exhibit is great.

Brenda D — Google review

This was such a cool place! Lots of exhibits for the Native Americans and the early settlers. There's an exhibit about the Terrible Tuesday tornado event from 1979 that left me shaking! It's a great way to spend an afternoon.

Maggie T — Google review

A museum that punches WELL above its size. This museum is awesome. I didn't anticipate little Lawton, Oklahoma having such an amazing place. I was there for hours with my children, and we didn't run out of things to see.My kids had an absolute blast. They loved digging for fossils, taking apart the life-size plastic buffalo to learn about how their parts were used, and they ESPECIALLY loved dressing up and playing store in the General Store. They enjoyed trying out the printing press, making the little windmills turn, and more. I'm not sure how to not turn this review into a list, but it really is hard to write this and not praise everything about this place.Visitors should know that there's also a very good-sized outdoor portion of the museum as well! There's an old train station to check out (with a fun, hands-on Morse Code machine), a real train engine, and a full old schoolhouse. As an adult, I learned a ton, and enjoyed doing it. The exhibits are really interesting. I've been to too many museums that are basically just a bunch of posters to read -- not so here! Nearly everything has some sort of hands-on or cool visual component. My one caution would be that they have a (truly incredible!) exhibit that simulates what it may have been like during a very powerful tornado. It is amazing, but it may be too intense for small children. Recordings from real-life survivors narrate their experience while the exhibit responds. It's highly immersive, and a powerful experience. I was very emotionally moved by the end. Kids might find it a bit too scary, so just know that before you enjoy that room.I absolutely, absolutely recommend this place. There's so much to learn and do. Tons of legitimately fun, hands-on things to explore. I have no complaints whatsoever. When I pass through Lawton in the future, I will definitely be visiting this place a second time!

Absolute worst museum experience I've ever had and we didn't even get to experience it.As soon as we walked in, the rude lady behind the counter was quick to tell me to take my kids water flasks back to my car as they do not allow "food or beverages." I then asked, "even my kids water flasks?" Which she was quick to disrespectfully gesture to the sign at her register/stand that said "no food or beverage."I understand the no food and even most drinks, however small children's drinking cups have always been accepted literally anywhere I have ever been in my life, even all museums. I even said kids water cups aren't usually induced in these types of rules.I expressed my concern as it was a hot day nearing 100 degrees and my kids needed their drinks. I said "what are we supposed to do? They are kids, they will dehydrate. The lady then told me they had water fountains the kids could use.ARE YOU SERIOUS? I can't even believe water fountains are even used these days, especially after covid. Public water fountains propose and create a huge hygiene concern for any and all those that use them. I am not allowing my kids to put their mouths near where complete strangers/other kids have used and could have potential life threatening germs. Is my 1 year old daughter expected to somehow use the disgusting water fountain? Shall I put her face near the faucet where she potentially makes contact with the water hole where any stranger could have put their lips on it? Makes no sense.I then asked "what about the outside part of the museum?" She also said no to that as well, we could only use their drinks outside in the parking lot. There was literally no compromise, no reasoning, no answers to why we weren't allowed to have our water flasks. Did they think we'd allow our kids to open them up and start pouring water on the attractions? I do not understand. We've been to countless museums in multiple countries and have never had this issue. This was extremely upsetting as we looked forwarded to visiting for weeks after moving to our current location. We will never visit again and I will passionately express to anyone I know to never visit as well.TLDR: The rude museum staff lady preferred my kids to not be allowed water and to dehydrate or use a germ infested public water fountain. There was no reasoning or answers to why, just a weird control rule. Land of the free, I thought?

Gregory T — Google review

It was alright. I think it kind of diminished what Native people went through by saying the buffalo were killed almost to extinction for land clearing. The buffalo were killed to starve the Indians and force them onto reservations, all for settlers to take their land. That part is important to remember. While there is a lot of settlers' history in this museum, I did see a lot of Native art and beadwork and Geronimo's walking cane that he carved. I loved the black and white photographs, I think they're in the Tingley collection. The beadwork was also exquisite. I also learned about Maria Tallchief, the first Native American prima ballerina. I didn't know about her accomplishments and when I saw her black and white display, I was a little starstruck. My daughter and I are Native American, and she happens to love ballet so learning about Maria Tallchief was great. The upstairs is dedicated almost entirely to kids, so I would say it's a very kid friendly museum. My 3 year old daughter loved the big Lite Briteon the wall, the sensory room with all sorts of things to climb and buttons to push and big foam blocks to play with. There were also some fossils you can touch in this museum and my daughter loved those too.For my 3 year old daughter and I to visit, we paid $18 for the both of us to enter. I liked it well enough and would bring my daughter back.

Excellent place for young and old. My grandson really enjoyed the sensory section. Great way to teach local history

FIRST, the ladies who were working there were beyond sweet and made the experience over the top wonderful. Second, this museum highly exceeded our expectations. My 4 year old little girl had a blast. After reading the reviews, we thought that just the upper level was for kids…well, although that is a wonderful description, the first floor has some very fun things for kids to do too! Go shopping in their general store (filled with old time-y items for “purchase”), take a part the insides of a Bison like a surgeon to see what their insides were used for back in the day, or pretend to be a Cowboy and rope in your cattle and then go enjoy some dinner back at camp (they had a covered wagon set up with dishes and you could pretend to eat like the old settlers did!) Plus there’s even more to do! You could definitely spend all afternoon there; we left with a yearly pass because I just knew my daughter would keep asking to come back! Thank you so much to everyone at the Museum of the Great Plains for providing such a wonderful family experience 😀

Danielle B — Google review

Large, modern, informative museum. See what it's like to be in a shelter as a tornado hits, explore the largest satellite map I've ever seen! Be sure to read the exhibits, many of them had multiple flip-throughs to read. I only docked one star because many of the outside exhibits were under construction (10/2023). An added bonus was the Prairie Dog colony that surrounded the museum. Hundreds of the little critters would bark their warnings at us if we got too close. They would duck for cover at about 50 feet. Cute!

Steve F — Google review

A good stop for an hour or more. Very interesting information about the area and it's history. I also enjoyed an entertaining "tornado" shelter experience. They also have outdoor exhibition with old nice steam engine! Finally, the lawn in front it populated with Prarie Dogs, it's funny to watch them.

Mikhail B — Google review

My son had so much fun today!!! He’s two, and there were kids much older than him laughing and having fun too. He didn’t get a nap today, so I was expecting a short visit, but there were so many fun things and there wasn’t a lot of people, so he was able to have so much fun he didn’t remember to be tired until closing time. We’ll be back in two weeks to do it all over again, except hopefully with a nap. Everyone was so nice. I saw the people putting the exhibits back together so everyone got to experience it fresh. I am just overjoyed at how much he loved it.

A popular rappelling area with red sandstone cliffs, plus trails, a public pool & a campground.

Great family camping just outside Oklahoman city in under an hour. I had no idea this was in my backyard such a great hiking trip! It's a bird paradise in the canyon! They also have a pool and concessions!

A beautiful state park. It's now privately managed, but I have to say the accommodations have only gotten better. The trails are well maintained, great for hiking. There is areas you can repel and in dinner months there is a pool. They now have glamping tents, and they are very affordable. It's a great weekend day less than an hour from west OKC

I went here on a cold fall day, the foliage was beautiful. Some parts of the trails were too muddy to walk, which gives me a reason to return here. It's beautiful! They have a fun little playground with swings and climbing logs.

I absolutely love coming out here. This is my favorite spot to take pictures of my clients. I have been coming here for a few years now. Bud is an awesome guy and very informational. Cannot wait to come out here and go camping soon to watch the stars with my kids! This place is very well kept. Not even a cigarette, can be found on the ground. Absolutely phenomenal!

Red Rocks Canyon ‘Adventure Park’, Hinton Oklahoma. Interesting campground. Pretty good misleading marketing on their website but we needed a stop off. This is a state park-really? Pulled in and no one at the front gate but not uncommon. Proceeded forward to our reserved site#50. Suddenly steep hill tight turn sign. Pucker up for a few minutes while you go into the canyon-it was steep and twisty. Not really big rig friendly between steep hill and untrimmed trees IMHO. Campground is spread out but where to go is poorly marked. Driving through the park there is a handwritten sign “overnight must check in at office”. Finally found site 50- right across from bath house. Bath house is questionable -we wouldnt use the showers but bathroom’s are functional. Only two other campers on our leg. We have power (50amp) but water is broke. Humm. So I drive to the office to check in. It looks like the office was abandoned when they filmed walking dead here. Not sure they did but this is like an abandoned park weird . Not sure where the office is because I checked all abandoned buildings. If you look at the website it’s paradise lol. Our site is ok. It’s cooling down outside and supposedly getting in the 60’s tonight. We would love that. We are here in Oklahoma though and it’s a one and done stop buyer beware-$41 a night is a ripoff for this. Bad experience with Oklahoma state parks now.

David W — Google review

The park is in private hands, no longer a state park. The Rv sites are set up well, though the drive in and out is very steep. It is a pretty park but it’s a long way for a restaurant or other amenities. The pool is nice but was packed with kids and it is an additional $8.00 per person to use it on top of fairly expensive camping fees. We paid for it coming in and didn’t use it after we saw how busy it was.

Jeannette G — Google review

So much positive change since I'd been last. 4 stars since I've never seen a perfect park in my life. With that being said, either the neighbors to the North of the Canyon or a house behind the entrance gait played music all day long and I don't think they realize it bounces off the canyon walls and you can hear it everywhere on the property. South end trails, N.E. trail, overland route, everywhere. People come to hear silence or birds, bugs, frogs etc.The campgrounds, bathrooms, trails, ALL were clean and taken care of. The staff was super helpful with the check in and maps. Camp neighbors were pleasant and the overall atmosphere was very peaceful. I'll be back for sure.

This was a very lovely park. We camped in site 51 and it had electricity and water no sewer hookups but it was very private. We enjoyed bike riding and spending time with family. The park itself was very well maintained and clean from what we saw. We were in a motorhome so we didn’t use the facilities. There were stickers between our site and our son’s site #52 and it was very annoying picking them off the dog’s feet. Not sure if they are in other sites because I saw kids running barefoot so I assume we just got unlucky in that regard.Wish they posted info about the restaurant and store being closed for the season the grandkids were disappointed. We had so much fun I forgot to take pictures, I took one on the way out.We would definitely stay here again.

Red Rock Canyon is one of those hidden gems that you don't really know about unless someone tells you or you just so happen to drive by once you take exit 101 off from I-40. I repelled there over two decades ago when I lived in that part of OK, had a great time! Now that I'm older I don't so much do the repelling but I definitely drive through and enjoy the scenery. Definitely looking forward to the pool being revamped and reopened, my kids and I will be there as soon as it is!

Pack your camper and bring your climbing and repelling gear. Great little park to practice climbing and repelling while camping over night on the wall or in your camper.Fall was a great time as there were only 3 other campers in the park so it is quiet and there are thousands of stars. It's also great for a day including some fishing and hiking.Adventure krewe tip. Reserve camp suites A, B, OR C for full hookups 50 amp, water, sewer. Our get the campground near the end of the park for a less traffic camping experience. There are rest rooms but no showers and all the equipment, tents, roads, and trails are well used and could really use some refreshing which is why only 3 stars

We had a great 2 night stay at the RV park. We rappelled and rock climbed, you will need your own knowledge and gear to do this. The new owners are very nice and have some vision for the park. We look forward to seeing how they move forward with the ideas we shared with them and their own plans. Thanks!

Awesome place! We love the contrast of the red rocks with the green trees and grass. We camped there recently and really enjoyed it. Plenty of shade at our camp spot and clean bathrooms. Fees are definitely reasonable for the amenities and for how well the park is cared for. The new owners are super friendly and have done a great job making improvements. It's also nice to have the walking/hiking trails so accessible.

Wow! What an amazing adventure we had at the Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park. When we got there, there were 1000 folks having an Easter picnic. We had been alone in the desert prior to this for weeks! The atmosphere was absolutely invigorating! Music! Kids having egg hunts. Kids getting rides on ATVS! And, then it got dark. Almost all of the folks left. There were only two other campers in our area! It became peaceful. I imagine it’s generally like that. Nice restrooms and showers. A pool and a playground. Plenty of group picnic area. The best best park is the Red Rock Canyon! Thank you to the owners! They were so very pleasant. 10/10 would return. If you like to rappel, you can do that too!

A hidden gem and absolute must visit if you enjoy hiking and camping. Came for the day which a day pass is $10 per vehicle. In my opinion, you definitely get your moneys worth. The operators do an awesome job of cleaning the park clean.Did the orange dot trail which was clearly marked throughout the trail. The trail was narrow in spots but still it was a great hike.Well worth the 70 min drive from our place in the OKC metro area. A must visit for the outdoor enthusiasts!

Very nice campsites, clean bathrooms/showers, gorgeous hiking trails and very nice staff. 100% worth the trip.$8 a day to use the pool is a bit much but the water is cool, there's a water slide and a rock climbing wall. It also closes at 6 which is a bummer but we enjoyed our time there.

We had a wonderful experience in Red Rock Canyon. From the moment we arrived we were greeted very pleasantly and were given an overview of the park. The Nash tent meet all our needs and was very clean and nice. The bed was very comfortable. Having firewood provided was a plus, so nice not to have to bring any. The pool was perfect and staff was very good. The showers and bathrooms were all very clean and well kept. We climbed and did some light hiking. Overall we think our stay was great.

2024 update- under new management and it has really improved this place!!! Lots of underbrush cleared while leaving the big trees. It's easier to see the beautiful rocks of the canyon wall. Really great place to camp- we camped in the California Trail section. Nice spots for campers, fifth wheels and rvs. Tent camping is allowed. Camping spots have water and electric- a couple are full hookups .Fun pool and snow cones at the pool. Nice hiking trails. Playgrounds are in good condition- with a new one added this year. Camping in the canyon- beautiful place. If you venture into Hinton, check out Granny's Diner (I think that's the name of it), for chicken fry....and leave room for dessert!!

Red Rock canyon is my favorite campsite because you get to camp down in the canyon and most of the plots have grass to set down on and that seems to be at a premium at most campgrounds in Oklahoma. It doesn't look great right now because they are doing a lot of construction right now. I'm not sure why because it used to be very nice and serene with lots of grass but there are large areas of bulldozed trees brush and grass right now so it was a bit of a let down today.

Great place to see. This place was built to tell the story of Jesus and his crucifixion. Excellent thing. They have plays around Easter you should go see, the city is lit up and you sit on the side of a mountain to watch. So interesting and if you love Jesus, it's an even more special place to visit. Great gift shop and scenery.

Sonya M — Google review

Wonderful place to visit out in the desert. Very easy to walk around and the setting is nice and quiet. There is a lot of care taken for each site and there are many picture opportunities and the Christ the Redeemer statue is beautiful. Beautiful location and definitely worth the trip

Pia L — Google review

The Holy City of the Wichitas offers breathtaking views and a truly captivating experience. From the serene prairies to the majestic bison and adorable prairie dogs, every moment is filled with wonder. The landscape adorned with beautiful yellow flowers adds to the enchantment of this place. It's a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.

BadAss C — Google review

Was a great place we enjoyed ourselves and walked into a man proposing to his girlfriend. My husband took their family pics they were both so happy wishing them a blessed future.

Eve H — Google review

Great place to visit anytime. Wonderful set up. Very respectful. Not for profit. Still have a live parent every year. Non denominational.

Brian J — Google review

An outdoor space created for the Passion Play unique to the Wichita Mountain. There are several "stage" areas created for the telling of Jesus’ birth to resurrection if you have a chance to watch it. Otherwise, it is worth visiting and simply sit down and enjoy the surrounding vista, including a statue of Jesus.

Vincent L — Google review

This place is interesting... Basically it has multiple permanent structures that act as a setting for a long-running Easter pageant (99 years In 2024). The chapel itself is beautiful, but other than that it is more of some grounds for the Easter story play. It is free to visit, however throughout the property there are no signs explaining anything (history, biblical story, etc.). Definitely a unique tourist attraction, and it doesn't take very long to walk through (30-45 minutes).

Kasey S — Google review

So beautiful and so fun my grandma and grandpa got married here

Dora T — Google review

This place is kept up gorgeously. The lady who runs the gift shop is so friendly and helps you find other things in the area to go do and see. Had a wonderful time and if I'm in the area again I will definitely go there

Laura S — Google review

It's a cool place and very unique, but you can see how run down some of the displays are. It just needs some tlc!

Eric L — Google review

I wanted to check this place out, but it was closed when I came through the area. I took this picture from a distance since it was the best I could do under the circumstances. I found after the fact that it doesn't open until later in the afternoon on the weekends, so something to keep in mind if you're going out of your way to see this place like I was. I had thought it was just an open site you could visit while checking out the refuge - my fault for not looking into it further. 3 stars in an attempt at giving it a neutral view ;)

Donny H — Google review

It was really good but you would have to come in the sunrise and sunset because there are no trees to hide from the sun

Guillermo M — Google review

A unique experience in the Wichitas that is definitely worth stopping by. We felt as if we were in a different era while we were here. The cobblestone architecture is unique, and we enjoyed climbing up the restored structures. The chapel has a lot of history and is adorned with paintings all over. The city overlooks the hilly landscape of the Wichita Mountains. There is a small gift shop worth checking out.The parking is huge and there is a restroom on site.

Ankita B — Google review

We absolutely love it!*Family-friendly*: Holy City is an excellent place for a family visit, especially after a visit to the Wichita Mountains and Wildlife Refuge.*Unique architecture*: The city has numerous full-sized buildings and structures, including the temple court, the Lord's Supper building, Herod's Court and Pilate's judgment hall, all built with locally-quarried granite in the 1930s.*Natural amphitheater*: The natural amphitheater is the setting for the nation's longest running Easter passion play in America.*Memorials*: The site is also home to a memorial for the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing and a Veterans Walkway.*Popular wedding venue*: The World Chapel has become a popular wedding locale.*Free admission*: The 150-acre site is leased from the federal government by the Wichita Mountains Easter Pageant Association, a private organization, and does not charge admission.

Stuart K — Google review

It is certainly kid friendly and certainly worth a stop and checking everything out. On the way to the site, very likely will see some prairie dogs.

State park

Nature & Parks

Warm quarters in a relaxed lodge offering dining, golf, a pool, nature trails & water activities.

Fabulous park with kind of a tragic namesake. Hiking is fantastic. Their are trails for beginners and intermediate. The lakes look great. Artificial but great. Serious money is being poured into the park. Great swimming beaches. Their are also two great places to eat. Worth your time

Chris S — Google review

Much nicer campground than Salt Plains. Nice sites, lots of hiking opportunities (don’t miss the springs) and a cute general store where we had breakfast, lunch & dinner. I had good pancakes and eggs and my husband had a nice veggie omelet. They have marble rye toast! But thought it was odd for a state park to have free Bibles and coyote skulls for sale. 😂 Once again, never saw a ranger.

Monica W — Google review

This Park is one of the Best!!! With Tammy at the Lodge she is very knowledgeable. All the employees at the Lodge are very helpful and friendly. Nice little gift shop where most is reasonably priced. There are alot of good trails and plenty to do with a wonderful general store that give lot of more options to the park

Shanna K — Google review

we used the facility for a family reunion and the experience was awesome! The staff is friendly and the service was good. We used the Outlook Catering for our breakfast and lunch and the food was good. Irving was in charge of the buffets and breakfast was ready at 8 am and lunch at 12 noon as we asked. Irving was and his staff were friendly and very service oriented. After the meals were served they put all of the leftovers in to go boxes for our family to eat take home or eat later.

The location is not good, but the park is great. Excellent pool, walking trails, picnic areas, and overall all outside areas for camping.

Rooms are comfortable, and the beds are ok. The restraunt has really good pizzas, and the ranch dressing is amazing!! The golf course is beautiful and hard (bring extra balls). Lots of beautiful trails paved and unpaved. Amazing pool and picnic area.

I was raised in Watonga, but haven't lived in Oklahoma in 20 years. Coming back for a funeral, we opted to stay at Roman Nose Lodge. It was perfect; the room was comfotable, the food was outstanding, the ambiance was peaceful. From the first of the stay to saying goodbye, the staff working there were so friendly. They are a big part of why we will return. Even with our large group coming and going. This will be our go to place when visiting family. My family and I had a wonderful stay.

Melissa S — Google review

So beautiful and the employees were very nice and informative. We didn't get to spend much time but we will for sure be back. The Spring Trail was prefect for our 5 year old twins and our older boys enjoyed it too. Our hope is to go on the longer trailer next visit.

Cute pool to take the kiddos to for a swim. Easy hikes for kids to see the waterfalls. We had an amazing time at Roman Nose State Park.

This park was great! The people were super super nice! View is also amazing. I was sad the pools weren’t open until memorial day but we went hiking and went to the super cold springs. Sooo pretty. I loved this trip so much.

Played a round of golf on one of the most picturesque courses in the state. It’s a humbling experience for most golfers. Absolutely loved it and already planning my return. Thanks, Leslie for all the pointers. See you soon! Stayed a short drive away at Lucky Star Watonga!

so much to do here, we stayed in the teepees it was so beautiful and loved the area, great showers and bathrooms.

A beautiful area to relax for the weekend. The heart healthy trail is my favorite to hike on! I love camping out here as well, though sometimes you won't have the most polite neighbors lol they can be a little noisy @ night.

Kat — Google review

Roman Nose State park is a jewel in the center of the state. Friendly & capable staff, natural beauty, and a good history lesson on where and how Native People lived. Thanks for a great vacation.

Jim C — Google review

Great place for moderate hiking. The room was comfortable, but noisy Heat/AC unit. Clean but not 5 Star. Will stay again.

Dale M — Google review

I ventured out to explore their trails. Upon my return journey, I discovered that they had two calves engaged in the search for sustenance and hydration. Their ribs were visible. It was a deeply saddening experience. Despite my attempts to converse with the desk clerk, she appeared more focused on her phone call than the individual before her. I tried to approach the general store and golf store, but inevitably, all stores shut down at five o'clock.

Samantha H — Google review

We tent camp every year and this year our campsite was one of the teepees. Our 4 year old grandson loved sleeping in it. We went to the natural springs every day and did a couple of hikes. We made some new friends and had a great time!!!

Debbie M — Google review

I used to enjoy the town of Watonga and campgrounds here ages ago for a small convention called Oklacon. I think about it so much. It's a lovely quiet park and one I miss deeply. I'd recommend it to anyone. Saw the milky way for the first time there. It was deeply moving. The park amenities are nice and clean.

Wildlife refuge

Nature & Parks

Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge spans 59,020 acres and is home to bison, elk, longhorn cattle, and a lively prairie dog town. Visitors can observe diverse wildlife such as tarantulas and explore the area's flora and fauna at the visitor center. The refuge offers various activities including hiking trails like the Kite Trail leading to Forty Foot Hole waterfalls, rock climbing, hunting, fishing, and camping.

We headed out for a day of hiking in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. We expected it to be somewhat busy due to the timing during Fall Break but the trail we chose was not crowded and we were afforded peace and quite to enjoy the vast blue sky, the prairie, and the granite mountains that towered to both sides of us as we made our way through the canyon along the Narrows Trail.I do not recommend this particular trail. It was not marked and was nothing but boulders and rocks and frustration. However, the first .25 of a mile is well worth it for the views alone. The Oklahoma horizon truly is beautiful in its own way. There are plenty of other trails to choose from.We saw a lot of buffalo (don’t get too close!), cool lizards, evidence of elk, and longhorn cattle. If you haven’t been out there I highly recommend getting out for a day trip.

Amanda B — Google review

A visit to Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge is highly recommended. It was my first time seeing wild bison, and it was truly amazing. The refuge also offers the opportunity to see other wildlife, such as cows. It's a fantastic place to connect with nature and explore the various trails. Be sure to grab a map to make the most of your visit.

You ever been to a national park? This one is pretty good bot too bad. Wicked trails and sick spots to go check out on foot.Nothing too bad to say about this place, besides being located in OKLAHOMA.. The weather is beautiful right now check it out. There are also a plethora of picnic tables and sites that you can bring your family to for a fun lunch. Even your pregnant wife.

Nhoj S — Google review

Loved it! They have a bunch of different areas you can fish at and hang around. They have long windy roads that you can get lost in for a couple of hours. I managed to drive to the top of Mt. Scott and the views are spectacular 😍

Cesar T — Google review

This is a hidden gem of diversity in Ecoregions. For the avid hiker there are many trails, some rough and rugged, some available to those challenged with disabilities. Visit Mount Scott first, and get an overview of what you will encounter- then make a trip to the Visitor’s Center to enhance your knowledge. We recommend a photo shoot in the Parallel Forest and a burger in Meers. Tour the town & architecture of Medicine Park for more historical context. We enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird House. You will see so much wildlife: Bison, Elk, Turkey and smaller critters too. Our family loves to visit the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge!

Lin H — Google review

We've been there 3 times over the last year. I like the variety of hiking trails and the abundance of wild life. Highly recommend going up Mount Scott for sunrise pictures.

This place has been therapeutic. Always great scenery. Love the wildlife here. Will always want to come back. The trails are nice. Its a great place to just get lost on a trail to find yourself and enjoy the surroundings. We went on Charons Garden trail and loved every inch of it.

A H — Google review

It was very peaceful and quiet. The trails are medium level after a certain point. Plenty of parking.

Samuel G — Google review

We were looking for activities to do in Oklahoma and found out about this park. We did not have very high expectations originally, but this park is definitely worth visiting. We did ~8mi of hiking - terrain is not steep, you will see small rivers and lakes in the park. What we liked the most were meeting bisons and longhorn as we hiked.

Elkhan M — Google review

I absolutely love this place. I usually camp in the backcountry which is usually peaceful since they only give out a handful of permits and the best spots are fairly secluded. Bison wander freely here and I have woken up/returned to some pretty close to the campsite. The nearby military base does fly jets over the area as well as shoot artillery which can be noisy. Especially the jets. Still love it out here. Favorite trails have to be the Charon's Garden trail and the climb up Elk Mountain. The Bison Loop is also pretty nice.

AED — Google review

We had a lovely drive thru the wilderness refuge. We got to see the bison and some prairie dogs. There's many places to park and explore or have a picnic. As well as hiking trails. And several small lakes and ponds. Make sure to drive to the top of Mt. Scott, and don't miss Medicine Park!

KJ K — Google review

To be fair the wife and i did a day hike here and haven't seen most of the Reserve. We hiked the Kite Trail (easy) and the Narrows Trail (difficult)The Narrows Trail was labeled moderate on All Trails but it was difficult for us since we're used to the Eastern coast Appalachian mountains. The trail was poorly labeled and went across boulders, creeks, and almost desert-like terrain. It was still well worth the difficulty.Other than the trails we experienced the Welcome Center. Its worth checking out for water and the information on the wildlife in the area. The place was clean and not any trash anywhere. It was well maintained and beautiful! We hope to return while we're in the west to explore some more of these beautiful mountains and see the Buffalo.

Chris — Google review

A truly hidden gem. Tons of hiking trails and nature. Been to the mountains a dozen times and will definitely be returning again and again.I recommend the Little Baldy hike and the Charon gardens hike for a good challenge.

Kevin R — Google review

It reminded us of Custer Nat'l Park in South Dakota - always a surprise around the next bend in the road. We see it all - bison, elk, longhorns and prairie dogs - all with an hour. The scenery is so pleasing to the eyes with huge boulders, red rock, grassy prairies, lakes and all accented in 1930's state park fashion. What a pleasure to come across this range of of the blue!

Samantha K — Google review

A spring visit in May. Beautiful landscape and plenty of wildlife at the roadside. I would stop at the visitors center and read the history. Takes maybe a half hour to walk through but very well thought out. Guest services was very nice. Check out Holy City as well.

Patrick G — Google review

Great place to just drive thru and enjoy the views, animals, and overall experience. We didn't do any of the hiking trails, but there were several and would love a chance to do a few. Lot of fun and worth a visit.

Chris S — Google review

What an unexpected and wonderful surprise to find these mountains in the middle of southern Oklahoma! Unique rock formations, lakes, and wildlife abound. Check it out if you’re in the area, it’s not to be missed!

Dani J — Google review

If you blindfolded me, transported me by air , and dropped me down here, I would never guess that I had landed in Oklahoma. This is everything *not* Oklahoma I could ever conjure, and yet it is. This place is beautiful, and I cannot recommend it enough to friends! All of this coming from an Amarillo-area guy who spends most of his free time wandering Palo Duro Canyon. The WMWR is something you would expect to find the opposite direction from Texas, and yet it has nearly 60,000 acres of mountains, trails, lakes, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and pretty much anything else you could wish for in outdoor recreation.Stir in a mid-May visit, and you find oceans of beautiful wildflowers, my favorite of which are the Indian Blankets. If you cannot find something photograph, shame on you.I loved the open range aspect of the refugee, meaning that cattle and bison roam freely. That also means across the roadway, so be prepared to stop out of respect and for photographs—from a safe distance, of course! The hiking is great, but plan on bringing proper footwear to tackle the occasional ruggedness. Also, watch for snakes, because they are prevalent. Stay on the trail and watch your hands and feet, and you should be fine.I’ll be back for sure, and most likely in autumn or winter, just to see it under different circumstances. This is a gem in the middle of nowhere.

Nick G — Google review

It was super awesome and took her granddaughter up there and got to see Buffalo and Texas longhorns and some prairie dogs. Always a great place to take the family and explore the outdoors.

Popular indoor/outdoor museum featuring over 3,500 aerospace artifact & interactive activities.

My son loves going to these types of museums. Was doing some work in Weatherford and drove by this museum and knew we had to come back.So many great aircraft and other displays. The gift shop on the way out was not as overpriced as other places we've been to.

Droopyface1804 — Google review

Traveling from KY to AZ. Stopped here via Harvest Hosts. We only had 1.5 hours to go through the museum. If you are like us and enjoy the reading and learning you could easily spend half a day here. They have all kinds of things from early flight, to modern planes, rockets, different space programs etc. There is even a "Shuttle" playground outside. Nice gift shop. We really enjoyed this place. We will come back next time we are going through the area.

Paul M — Google review

Amazing museum with a ton of legit artifacts. I was amazed with the amount of material that were on real missions, and was delighted to learn a lot about the cold war space race and the missions around it.It can be completed relatively short, within an hour for sure, and there are not many interactive exhibits for kids, but it is still kid friendly. Great place, highly recommend if youre in the area or passing by.

Carsten D — Google review

Definitely with a stop! Beautiful and professional exhibits outline the history of flight from the first flight to current space exploration. Tour is at your own pace so if you are local you could make an afternoon of it. A traveller just passing through? We leisurely visited for about an hour. Make the stop! ✈️👩🏻‍🚀🚀🛰️

Jessica A — Google review

This place is really pretty cool. They've got a nice exhibit with aircraft and other displays for you to look at. It's set up really good and people working were friendly. You can have a guide or just solo it. They got a nice little gift shop that was fairly reasonable. Been 2 times so far from Norman and playing to go again since they continue to add new exhibits. Definitely worth the drive.

Josh P — Google review

Good luck making it into the museum because they happen to have an INCREDIBLE playground on the premises. As soon as we parked our daughter sprinted towards the area - complete with rocket themed play sets, swings, covered tables, and restrooms. The museum itself is staffed by some of the nicest people and the exhibits were extremely well done!

Rob D — Google review

Great museum! We really enjoyed it. Not your average tourist trap at all—lots of real artifacts display including the Gemini VI capsule. Very well designed museum and fun, educational scavenger hunt.

Emily D — Google review

Wow! Best museum ever. Incredible exhibits and since my kids are young, my family of six got in for $20. Can’t beat that!

Dillon A — Google review

It was a nice and fun experience. Very educational and my kids loved it. They loved the space ships and plane displays but wish there was more interactive things to do.

Erin W — Google review

Fun to learn about another person who contributed loads of influence to our first trip to the moon and beyond.Very good selections of full scale real and replica planes. But it had a large number of real Mercury, Gemini and Apollo rocket parts. Including full size Apllo engine, space flown pieces and the Apollo 10 capsule which was flown by Stafford in preparation of the first moon landing.Very good place just off Interstate 40

Mark P — Google review

The museum was well done showing a lot of aviation and space history. I didn't quite expect as much about space, but remembered that Stafford was an astronaut - so it made sense. The tunnels made from upcycled parts of aircraft were a treat. I'm a total aviation geek, so this is my kind of place!

Micaela T — Google review

Outstanding artifacts beautifully displayed (many genuine, also some exact replicas). Interactive points throughout are great for kids, students, and adults. Excellent, well -written information placards…just a top quality experience from start to finish…and the museum is expanding! The Smithsonian has come to the Oklahoma heartland with this excellent museum.

Rebecca C — Google review

Wonderful first class air & space museum. Excellent collection of artifacts including a selection of space flown items. A must visit museum for any space enthusiast

Larry K — Google review

We thoroughly enjoyed this museum!! So much knowledge and amazing pieces. The scavenger hunt for the children kept everyone engaged from my 10 yo to my 15 yo. We recommend this museum for everyone.

S — Google review

Cool aviation museum with pieces from the three main categories: wright brothers and early flight, space exploration, and modern jets.

Brent — Google review

Even the ladies' restroom was museum worthy with inspiring vintage photos of women in aviation. There were nice exhibits and lots of historical items from suits to rocket models. Also a good place for a small conference or event.

Forest M — Google review

This place is filled with historic aircrafts and it even gives me a sense of my family member who used to be in the military flying these airplanes. I have lots of pictures of the place and this place is just a wonderland of its own. It’s been a few years since I’ve been here, and I really do miss driving up to Weatherford to go see this place. I hope that some other time I can come back here and see how things have changed since I’ve started coming over.It was worth the 1 hour drive from Oklahoma City to Weatherford to come see this place. I had so much fun here, and hopefully things improved over the years here. Here are the pictures of the things I saw down below.

Red C — Google review

We live an hour from this museum and it’s always worth the trip!!!!! My son loves space and we’ve been here several times and it never gets old for him. Definitely a hidden gem in Oklahoma! Very cool for old and young alike.

Kayla K — Google review

This museum exceeded our expectations! A lot of information about aviation and space. Seeing the real life Gemini VI and the Titan Rocket was the highlight of the museum if I had to pick. Plus the new playground across the parking lot was a hit with the kids!An absolutely must for any one! Worth the drive from Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton, known as the Hub City of Western Oklahoma, offers a comprehensive look at the history and culture of the iconic road. Visitors can explore exhibits spanning over sixty years of history, including myths, signs, photos, and music. The museum also features a drive-in theater movie experience and replicas of 1950s-style diners and antique cars.

A must-see attraction for those who are curious about the history of Route 66. This is a well organized museum that will "walk" you through the establishment of the highway, decade by decade, with meaningful pictures, physical memorabilia, and thoughtful descriptions of events of each time period, as well as the impact that the interstate system had on the highway and supporting businesses. The owners were very knowledgeable and friendly, as well. It was a true Route 66 experience. Riding through the area on my Harley trike and meeting other riders who were making the journey from Chicago to the "other end/start" in California of Route 66 added to the whole experience. I am glad I took the time to stop in. The museum is totally dependent on each vistor's small entry fee, as well as gift shop proceeds. I was told that the estimated number of visitors per year is 60,000 with the busiest time being, of course, the summer months. This is a first class museum.

The Oklahoma Route 66 Museum has such an abundance of materials, this is one review of several due to the amount of photos I have taken….. I hope viewers will take time to see it in its entirety and appreciate the effort and time I spent on posting this.Review #1We stopped at the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum as it was conveniently on our way home. And this is one decision I made that I will never regret! It was educational, informative and amazing! This museum was so much more than I expected and the price of admission was more than worth it.The museum is strategically set up by rooms representing each decade and if you press a button located just inside each room you’ll hear a song from that time! There are displays set up throughout each room, along with various framed photos, posters, etc. representing that decade in time. It was extremely well organized and designed and patrons could spend as little or as much time as they wanted in each room. Also, as you progressed through each room (decade), there are areas where you’re surrounded by newspaper articles on three sides, left, right and overhead from that era.Personally, I found these to be truly amazing for the simple fact that one tends to “forget” some of the most important facts that are part of our history! I have included some comments on the photos as examples, so be sure to check them out after reading my reviews!!

This little museum is cute! It's small but has some pretty neat things. Don't confuse this with the National Route 66 Museum 25 minutes down the road in Elk City... But this is still a cool stop. The cost for adult admission is $7, so it isn't too expensive.

Kasey S — Google review

It was a great opportunity to learn all about Route 66 history. There are movies, artifacts, memorabilia, and pictures from each of the decades when Route 66 was a functional road and the impacts it had on our society.

Best museum we've seen on the journey so far. Lots of memorabilia, all in good condition, great music and things to actually touch and pose in front of. The family running the business is absolutely lovely. A clean place and just very well curated. Better than the place where we went yesterday and charged the same price for MUCH less. Got my kicks here for sure!

So after leavimg calumet oklahoma, continuing the rt.66 we stopped at the oklahoma rt.66 musuem in clinton. This place was only 7 dollars for adults and 4 dollars for kids which wasn't bad at all for the whole tour. This place shows everything you need to know about rt.66 from the early 1920s , 1930s , 1940s, 50s , 60s , 70, and the 80s which was the end of rt.66 as a official highway. This place was my favorite far as museums go and has the best prices. I definitely recommend coming here if you want to learn about the history of rt.66 and america plus some, the staff are really nice as well and there are bathrooms.

Oklahoma Route 66 MuseumRoute 66 Clinton, OklahomaAfter arriving in Oklahoma, we knew that there were two Route 66 Museums we wanted to visit. The first one is located in Elk City, Oklahoma, and was closed for the Juneteenth Holiday. It was getting late, but we still decided to drive to the other Museum, Oklahoma Route 66 Museum, which is located in Clinton, Oklahoma. Luckily, this museum was still open, and we had some time to visit. From the exterior, the museum itself is beautiful and definitely eye-catching. On one side of the parking lot was a replica of a diner, and it was fun to look inside. The museum was great inside. It definitely is spacious, especially near when you first enter the lobby. There is a small fee to visit the museum, but it is well worth the price of admission. The museum itself houses a lot of displays, exhibits, memorabilia, photos, and artwork from different areas of Route 66. You will find photos and artwork from people you may know, such as Jerry Mcclanahan of Mcjerry's and EZ66 Guide to Route 66. There is also lots of information and history to read about Route 66, such as those with past motels, diners, and drive-ins. There was even a fascinating section on "Mobilizing On Route 66," which explains the change that came about in WW II. Another section you will find is "The Property And Preservation Of Route 66". The museum is rather spacious, and the many exhibits are great. The museum also has a fantastic gift shop and the staff of volunteers who work here are all very friendly and knowledgeable. It was fun speaking with the staff. As usual, we bought lots of souvenirs. Their level of customer service is excellent. This definitely is one museum that people need to visit when traveling through Oklahoma.

Cute museum. Very organized displays and lots of memorabilia.Lots of fun things in the gift shop. Admission was on $7 each so I felt that was a very fair price.

Great museum if traveling RT 66 or not. Lots of history of road and sights.

Great museum and great staff. Love the layout... it was a very nice surprise! A lot of history to learn and admire.

Wayne J — Google review

A real highlight of the Route 66 museums. Interactive, informative and aesthetically pleasing. Must-see stop if you’re doing the route as it gives you all the history of the road.

Charlie S — Google review

This is a wonderful little museum! It is put together well by decade of the history and influence of route 66 through video, music and artifacts. It has very affordable admission, clean restrooms and a lovely gift shop. I would go back again and recommend it for families. A nice stop on the way from Tulsa to Amarillo.

Love this museum! Love how it was chronologically presented. They have music from the time frame for each exhibit as well as scrapbooks of the time.

I really loved this place, it’s magically full of history good memories, highly recommended to visit. The lady in the front desk is more than kind and friendly.

We absolutely loved it here! So much information, many amazing photos and displays. You won't be disappointed in visiting here! And at only $7 a person, it's definitely worth it.

This was a very informative and interesting stop on our trip. The exhibits were sectioned off by decades and had great displays with a plethora of information to read, view, and listen to. I loved learning about the history of Route 66. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend visiting this museum.

Great historical museum concerning the history of the area. Has displays from various eras, sections dedicated to home town people made big, Will Rogers is a staple at all Oklahoma museums. Cars and Rt 66 memorabilia is also displayed. Volunteers are very helpful.

An absolute must do stop on Historic route 66!Although, this is the National Route 66 Museum, there are actually three museums located here. The facility grounds are perfectly groomed and the buildings, some new and some, restored are beautiful. The 66 museum is laid out to give you an end-to-end perspective of the road and has nice displays of artifacts and historical representations. The other museums, Old Town and the Farm and Ranch are also well worth your time. I would say plan on a minimum of one hour, but you could easily spend a couple of hours here. Elk City is a really nice town ad they have put a very noticeable effort in making this a first class tourist attraction.

Spike S — Google review

Great stopover during travels on I40 (I mean Route 66!). There is a place to park big RVs across the I40 business loop from the museum buildings. You could also park in the back by the “fire house” or “farm building” but there’s a narrow road to maneuver if towing in a bigger RV. We used the parking lot on the S side near the KFC (Walls?)

Georgia H — Google review

This is a nice historic stop on Route 66. It has unique museum shops with facades. You can take the 1 hour guided tour (5 dollars for adults/4 dollars for children, or self guided outdoor tour for free.

Lorena S — Google review

Being a National museum we expected it to be a lot about the big picture things and transport on things that were connected to Route 66 it is actually a very small section the rest is local history and a farming museum. Interesting but not what we were expecting.

Michele L — Google review

My teenage daughter is a HUGE RT 66 enthusiast, so we knew we had to stop at this museum on our road trip through OK. It did not disappoint. The huge sign out front is perfect for selfies and it was only $9 total for the two of us. There was a really cool pink Cadillac that you can sit in and pretend to drive down 66 with a monitor that she loved. Cute little gift shop where I bought a calendar and ornament and got our 66 passport stamped. Overall, friendly people and interesting displays. Well worth a visit!

Casey M — Google review

There is a lot going on here... Not so much just a transportation museum but much much more! Takes less than two hours to walk the grounds and see the many many items they have. I think if you don't see it here you may not see it anywhere. Staff was very nice and helpful.

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the National Rt 66 Museum in JUN_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Oklahoma's history and legacy. We did a plant tour around and for sure it's a remarkable building.Definitely, it'sa place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.

This was a great find. In addition to the Rout 66 museum, you also get access to the other historical museum, all on the same grounds. Lots of local history here. We spent about two hours here. All of this for $5 per person.

Corazon P — Google review

It's definitely worth your time. They have a 15-minute movie on some Rt 66 history, and the displays are interesting. There is plenty to see, and the gift shop prices are very reasonable.

Roy L — Google review

This museum was a delightful surprise, Much more here than you'd think, Route 66 is the draw but there's so much other history here. The layout was clever as well. And don't miss the farm implement museum, it's very interesting too.

This was one of those road side stops that we hit along our Route 66 travels to get a little break from driving, and it turned out to be such a find! Several small building make up this entire museum, and so informative. Not expensive at all, and the amount of items this museum had was amazing. from cars to rodeo memorabilia was just unbelievable. There aren't any concession stands here, but you're in the middle of town so finding a bite to eat nearby isn't an issue. There is a gift shop here.

The F — Google review

Wonderful place to visit. A lot of different buildings on display showcasing life along early Route 66.

Jeremy G — Google review

An extensive and interesting museum full of Route 66 history and artefacts. The staff are lovely and there’s so much to see. You can walk around all the old buildings and go inside some of them, including an old two story house and a huge barn.

Great visit to this beautiful Route-66 Museum. Didn’t have enough time to see everything. It would take several days to catch all the details and the fun the creators of this place put into it.Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and when we do our next Route-66 exploration tour.. this museum will be at the top of our list of places to visit!Really can’t say enough about how professionally laid out.. and FUN it was!The small fee.. between $6 -$10 for children or adults is a very tiny price considering the quality of this museum. It’s definitely a “must see” for anyone embarking upon the Route-66 journey!

Joseph B — Google review

This is a fun museum to visit.. kids today would be in awe of our history!!

Rachel E — Google review

It was a fun place to go. Looking at the past and what they used and had and did in that Era. Loved the info they gave, and also, you pay to get in, but it also gets you in the old Village Museum. I know there are different 66 Museums in different states. I'm sure each has its own items I would love to see them all. We went on a Monday. Very windy and cold.

The Tower Station & U-Drop Inn Cafe is a historical landmark dating back to 1936, featuring an art deco design. It has been prominently featured in the animated film Cars. The site currently functions as a museum and gift shop where visitors can find unique souvenirs. Ozzie's cafe, located on-site, offers homemade pie and other tasty food options for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, the adjacent museum and shop are highly recommended for those seeking an authentic Route 66 experience.

The cafe is open but has limited lunch only hours. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. Remember that your visiting a small rural town, a little patience and kindness will get you everywhere. The Museum and gift shop is a nice walk threw with lots of local information. The site itself is worth stopping for. Thank goodness the town of Shamrock had the vision to preserve this piece of Route 66.The public bathrooms are clean and well stocked even in the middle of the night. The overall look and feel of this piece of history is amazing day or especially at night. If your looking for big city polish and fake shine this may not be your favorite stop but if you are looking for authenticity and small town heart then this will be your favorite stop too!

Stopped here to charge and was pleasantly surprised by how cool this location is! This is a historical route 66 gas station. There is a cute gift shop and diner. The ladies in the gift shop are very friendly, and the diner has yummy ice cream, pie, coffee, and sandwiches. If the front of the building looks familiar, it was the inspiration for the Cars gas station! I definitely recommend stopping here. It's a quick and easy detour off the 40! Check the hours first though!

Wonderful Route 66 stop full of history. It’s got a Tesla supercharger which is why we stopped. But a fun stop for kids and adults, the gift shop has got some neat little things and the nicest people work there. Only gripe is the outside bathroom could really use some updating. It’s in pretty rough condition.

This is one of if not my favorite gas station of route 66, this was featured in the cars movie and is a hot spot for enthusiasts and travelers of the mother road. It was stunning to see in person, the staff are very friendly and the famous sandwich was amazing. The milkshakes are hand made and delicious probably top 3 of what i have had so far. Overall i highly recommend stopping here for a quick lunch, drink and gifts, they have lots of nice things to get for everyone traveling route 66.

Iconic Route 66 stop. Gift shop and soda shop are run by separate owners. Both have cool stuff to look at. Highly recommend stopping by after the sun goes down. The neon is amazing.

Eric C — Google review

It's an iconic place, if you know you know. Not that far away, is a really nice piece of art with the city/hometown name. One of the benefits of road Trip across the country from LA, couldn't stop to explore more due to lots of driving & arriving early but one for the books.

Inferno S — Google review

This was in Shamrock! Old route 66 iconic gas station. Unfortunately it was closed when we arrived. It's a tourist center and the inside looked just as old on the inside. The rest of the town was surprisingly better than some of the other towns along the old route 66. We contemplated staying in Shamrock but I had one more destination in mind so we kept going along. The ironic part to this location is Tesla has a charging station in the back! It's not a 4 way stop at the intersection but the traffic wasn't heavy when we arrived.

H G — Google review

The cafe was closed when we got there so I can't comment on that. The visitor center, gift shop, museum has many items and the person working that was very friendly and informative.

Somuch — Google review

Excellent restored gas station combined with a maintained historic diner (with some good food and drink on offer) and a mini-museum and gift shop. Well worth a stop while also looking at some of the many murals in Shamrock.

Very cool to go back in the days & see history. Saw a picture from the 1912, a women used a hand-cranked battery to charge her electric car. How far we have to Electric Cars - Tesla, Rivian, etc…

If you're driving Route 66 or just passing by, this is a must stop. Beautifully restored 1930's gas station (no gas anymore ) and cafe. The cafe (open 9-2) has a great panini menu and handmade shakes. Nice gift shop with lots of Route 66 souvenirs. Take a few minutes to talk to the folks working there!

Nancy G — Google review

What a gorgeous piece of Route 66 history. The ladies at the gift shop were so helpful and nice. We loved getting old-fashioned milkshakes at the attached care as well. This place was the highlight of our day on Route 66!

What a hidden gem! This charming establishment, lovingly restored by the city, feels like stepping into a scene from the Disney movie CARS. Inspired by the iconic Route 66, with its classic hotels, gas stations, and roadside attractions, this place has been transformed into a captivating museum. We dined here, though the menu is modest, focusing on sandwiches, shakes, and ice cream – think of it more as a cozy café than a full-service restaurant. But the real highlight is the stunning architecture by J.C. Berry, meticulously preserved for visitors to admire. It's a delightful experience to show your kids how Disney captured the essence of American culture, echoing the nostalgic charm of Route 66. Today's Route 66 historic landmarks offer a fascinating glimpse into the past, thanks to the efforts of entrepreneurs and historical societies. It's a beautiful connection to our uniquely American heritage through the joy of travel.

Gary P — Google review

I popped in along my tour of Route 66. I didn't eat in the Cafe but checked out the museum. The woman working there was so sweet. I didn't know until after that this place was in Cars. So cool!

Jeanette — Google review

Interesting historical spot right next to Tesla Supercharger; wasn’t open but there was plenty to see and photograph.

Glenn S — Google review

No tickets needed. This place is free to visit and off the main highway but a must see!! It’s never been busy when I’ve been here. The I-Drop Inn Cafe was closed on a Saturday which was disappointing but maybe I will get through there another time to enjoy the cafe fare! Make sure if you get through Shamrock, TX you stop by this place!!

Michelle W — Google review

A stunning iconic service station of a bygone era. Nicely preserved, maintained and clean. We pulled right up to the pumps for some memorable photos, had the whole place to ourselves. The small souvenir shop was closed but it didn't matter. I'm sure the locals take it for granted, but a don't-miss stop for old cars guys and Rt 66 fans.

Conoco Tower Station And U Drop InnRoute 66 Shamrock, TexasWhen we first arrived in Shamrock, Texas, we knew we wanted to visit The Conoco Tower Station and the U-Drop Inn Café. We met both Olita and Hazel at the station, and we talked about the history of the station. They also were kind enough to show us the U Drop Inn Café even though it was closed for the day. The interior and decor were beautiful and made you feel as if you were stepping back in the past. We also met the owner of the U Drop Inn Cafe. His name is Ozzy. We spoke for a bit about the cafe, its history, and his menu items. He was great and always had a smile on his face. We also talked about how we would like to promote his business to our Route 66 groups. We told him that we would be back the next day to have lunch before leaving Shamrock for Oklahoma. The following day, we had lunch at the cafe. The menu is limited and offers different sandwiches, paninis, salads, shakes, and homemade pies. We ordered several items from the menu. I had the Green Chile Chicken Panini, which came with a side of fries. The Panini was delicious and had lots of flavor. Chuck had Voilas Classic Chicken Salad Sandwich, and he stated that it was one of the best he has had. We also both ordered a couple of milk shakes, and they were both great they were flavorful, creamy, and smooth. Of course, we wanted to try some homemade pie. I can't remember what kind of pie it was, but I know the crust was flaky, and the filling was delicious. We later found out from Ozzy that his mother made the pies. I'm sure she makes other delicious pies because what we had was great. We also found out that Ozzy's parents own another restaurant, which we will try on our next visit.Overall, we had a great experience with wonderful food and excellent customer service from Ozzy.

This place is beautiful and peaceful. My family visited for the day. The check in staff were welcoming and informative especially since it was our first time there. My only gripe is that the bathrooms by the welcome center could use some love and attention. There were plenty of places to camp out and a lake to boat or fish. Buffalo roam freely as well as prairie dogs. Bring lots of water as it gets hot but overall beautiful experience!

L W — Google review

I would definitely recommend coming in cooler weather if you're hiking. We did a moderate trail late morning (in the 70°'s) and it was HOT! Absolutely no shade on our trail. Luckily the clouds rolled in half way through. The trail was right around 4 miles there and back. Would also not recommend after a rain, this trail crossed multiple low creek beds. The different rock layers were BEAUTIFUL! And even if you don't feel like hiking, the Bison and Prairie Dogs were so interesting to watch!

Ashley M — Google review

Very nice State park in TX, lots of nice scenery, nice trails and an amazing looking park. There's a scenery road you can drive along, or you can park up and take one of the trails. There are bison that you are able to see up close, they usually are along the roads or next to their scratching posts, and they are majestic creatures. There is a self check-in if you arrive outside the opening hours of the visitors centre, however it requires cash, so be prepared when you arrive! Can recommend wholeheartedly, a lovely place to visit.

Alex — Google review

What an amazing state park! I have been wanting to come here for a few years and I’m happy I finally did. You can drive through the park, camp and hike. There are wild bison and prairie dogs which was awesome! Beware the flies though. Great facilities and truly such a beautiful sight in the mostly flat state of Texas. I will be back to camp and explore more!

Missy W — Google review

We went on an 8 hr hike here, deep into the canyon. It was beautiful. Just be sure if you're hiking in hot weather to bring plenty of water and protein. The deeper in that you go, you'll find 'fern cave'. It's a great place to refresh yourself, with the creek running through. Watch out for wild Buffalo.

Northern G — Google review

We came here to enjoy a day of nice weather in the canyon and fly out drones around the area. The footage from the drones was taken outside of the park. We discovered you cannot fly them in state parks. The scenery was beautiful. We really enjoyed the bison. We would love to come back when it is even a little cooler. There are lots of neat trails to take in this park. You can also drive about 5 miles and go through the whole canyon. I highly recommend even just driving through this lovely area. The price is $5 per person to get in.

Jana H — Google review

This park has breathtaking views, and the buffalo are everywhere grazing and enjoying themselves. It will take several visits to hike all the trails and see what this park has to offer completely.

Deana S — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous hiking, really enjoyed the trails but also the ability to explore if we wanted to! The park staff were very friendly and helpful. We saw lots of cool wildlife. Definitely reccomend it! It's only $5 a person, which is nothing compared to some states.

Caprock Canyons State Park is an absolutely stunning park. We've stayed in the Equestrian area when the campgrounds were full and fell in love with the landscape. There are no electrical hookups, but water is available. The trails are multiple and all offer something beautiful. The Mesa trail is perfect for beginners. It leads you to the top of a mesa where you will have unobstructed views that are breathtaking.

Andie M — Google review

Visited this park during the winter storm weekend so it was a crisp 7°F, which meant no hiking for me. I arrived around 9am and there was no one in the park aside from a few rv campers. As soon as I drove towards the park after the visitors center, I saw bison right on the road. It was such a great way to start my day. The drive in this park is definitely one of my top 5 favorites. It's relaxing and no matter which direction you're looking the scenery is stunning! I will be back to hike!

Vivian P — Google review

Caprock Canyons is an interesting and beautiful park. The views and canyon walls are worth seeing! However, it could use a serious upgrade to the camping area bathrooms. They are old and filthy dirty. Also, while the bison are cool, they should be fenced outside the camping areas. They naturally move as a herd, often blocking camping area access and promoting risk for visitors. There are signs posted, warning people to stand back from the bison. How are you to do that when they're in your camping area? Also, their fecal and urine deposits in camping areas is unsanitary (and attracts lots of insects).

Cindy T — Google review

Such a beautiful park. We saw the bison as soon as we entered, my daughter loved it. We did the Eagle pass trail to see the Natural Bridge. Such beautiful Texas Landscape.

Rachael J — Google review

A very unique Texas experience. The upper prairie feels like the old west with bison roaming, yet the interior of the canyon feels like Sadona with the red canyon walls every where. At night the Milky Way is visable dispite all the new lights comining into the area.

Scott B — Google review

Caprock Canyons State Park is a wild place in the Texas Panhandle, near Quitaque. The land is harsh and beautiful, shaped by time and weather. Red rock cliffs rise sharply, cut deep by canyons. The Texas State Bison Herd roams here, untamed and free.Trails wind through the park, from easy paths to tough climbs. The views are worth the effort—canyons stretch out, mesas stand tall, and the plains seem endless. The park is more than just a place to walk. You can ride horses, bike, or camp under the wide sky.At Haynes Ridge, the land opens up beneath you, a view that speaks of ages past. At night, the sky is black and full of stars, a quiet reminder of how small we are.

CR S — Google review

My FAVORITE Texas State park!! Has the BEST hiking hands down! The scenery seems flat and lackluster until you travel beyond the Honey Flats! Absolutely gorgeous here! I love the Little Red Tent Camping area.

Stefanie S — Google review

Beautiful verdant canyon system. The park had fewer visitors than Palo Duro on the day we visited, so it was much quieter. The buffalo roam everywhere! The prairie dogs are cute. Carry lots of food and water (no food sold in the park). You can refill water containers at most of the campgrounds. The lake is down several feet. I would not recommend swimming in it, but people were fishing.

Beverly R — Google review

First time at the park. Welcome center/office staff very helpful with our questions about our pass. Told us where the bird viewing area was located. Explained about the map: places, car areas, hiking areas. There is a gift shop there as well, nice items. Cash and credit accepted. Noticed tent and RV campers.Bison herd was amazing to see!! Burrowing owls in a vacated prairie dog hole! Road runners, various birds, prairie dogs, wild turkeys all seen. An abundance of color from the wildflowers, too. Plenty of restrooms thought the park. The view? .... absolutely stunning!!

Gorgeous! So many beautiful views! Lots of wildlife! Great park staff. I hope we can go back when we can spend more than a day.

My family loved the scenery, wildlife, and the staff was very friendly. The rv pads were very level. Early spring or late fall would be the best times to visit due to the heat. Weekends book fast and 5 months in advance so reserve early.

The camping here is so amazing! I loved all the trails here I went on two trails, eagle point trail and upper south prong trial. Eagle point trail is moderate, very peaceful, and beautiful trail higly recommend but bring plenty of water on all trails. Upper South Prong tril was very, very beautiful, but it was challenging at the end of this trail be careful if your not an experienced hiker over all we had an amazing time I can't wait to go back! The park staff were very friendly and helpful. The park was very clean. It was exciting to see bison, which were all healthy. The skies were remarkable at night with all the stars.

This awesome monument is worth the sidetrip.Though prayerful consideration of each feature is difficult in hot Texas sun, an Easter visit might be more advantageous to contemplation.

If you pass by this place and do not stop you have missed so very much! Please stop and see the grounds and go inside the amazing gift shop. The 12 stations of the cross are unbelievable and then there is the last supper, Calvary and a replica of the shroud of Turin. This is a must see each time we travel I-40 past Amarillo. The story of how and why this was built is inspiring

Shellie P — Google review

Good people. Providing a peace-filled reminder to a stressed world that Jesus loves you. You are here for a purpose. The Groom Cross, stations of the cross, and your campus and gift shop are beautiful.

KR ( — Google review

This was even more than I expected. I thought it was just a cross, but I was wrong. I am so happy that I was wrong. To see the Last Supper, the Stations of the Cross, the men on the crosses, the cave where Jesus was buried and resurrected, and a beautiful fountain was truly a beautiful and humbling experience.

Leonard C — Google review

Oh my! What can I say, but that I'm so glad we stopped by!! Beautiful almost or close to life-sized statues of our dear Lord's last days, brought to life in "The Stations of the Cross." Please take a quick exit into the town of Groom, Texas, and take a look for yourself. There's even a generous sized gift shop with beautiful gifts for purchase.

Anastacia C — Google review

This is a great stop and definitely worth it if you’re on the way. I will say we did have a hard time finding a way to get in but that was probably just us. Also they have bathrooms and a gift shop which might be the prettiest one I’ve ever seen from a religious monument/temple.This is also a wonderful place to walk around quietly and pray. Also you can snap pictures but always be respectful. No standing or messing with the statues!

Jasmin R — Google review

Be still my heart and thank you for this amazing sight celebrating the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The stations of the cross are done beautifully as is the last supper. Take time to study the the facial expression for each disciple. I so appreciated how the artist captured the facial expression and body position of each man. What really caught my heart is the memorial of Jesus on His knees holding a pre born baby. The sadness and gentleness depicted in His face broke my heart. I am move by this remembrance for all the unborn babies never given the opportunity to live out their life due to abortion. The gift store is full of wonderful items.

Randee F — Google review

I'm not Catholic but I still appreciate that they spent the time and money on recreating the step by step Prophetic event of our LORD and Saviors sacrifice, as He made His way to the cross.Very difficult to read each stations plaque , as it describes what is taking place.I definitely got choked up trying to hold back my tears. How humbling , and thankful it was.I also had the best conversation with one of the gift shop employees. He was very patient and took the time to explain His religion as well as being willing to let me respond with questions and answers according to my Christian beliefs.💯 Satisfied with the experience. Also the actual size of the cross is very impressive! It's a " must stop" along your travels.

Angela D — Google review

I think there are a few misses for me here. The first is that this stop focuses on the crucifixion and death of Christ with just a note about the resurrection. The resurrection is the most important part! And at this stop, it's an empty tomb with no description, off to the side, hidden by everything else. The second is the cross is pretty garish. What's the point? No one is converting based on seeing the USs second biggest cross. I just don't see any reason to have this here considering it clashes with the aesthetics of everything else. Finally, and definitely not an afterthought, this cherry picks scriptures that ostracize different groups of people and monumentizes them. It's goes against the first and second great commandment and just drives people away. Sad to see on statues that last forever when so many other things could have been here where the primary focus is the Savior.

Taylor R — Google review

Cool is just a start, though on the day I want in was over 100 degrees , love texas. The cross is the center piece, dominating everything for miles. You see long before you get there.Besides the cross there are statues of 1) stations of the cross (some stations didn't have statuary) , 2) last super (missing a few apostles) , 3) calvery, 4) tomb (dim - emotional)There were also stand alone statues of St Michael & Mary. There was a groto with a water fall with meeting rooms & gift shop surrounding. The gift shop was very air-conditioned and a blessing I the heat.

Steven L — Google review

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for he is risen, this place is amazing and well kept, you can just feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and the fire within, come everyone and enjoy the journey

Katie L — Google review

Beautiful experience to stop and see, read each scripture leading up to the crucifixion and what Christ did for us, how he suffered out of love for each and every one of us. His love is for all. John 3:16

Andrea R — Google review

Technically, the cross here in Groom isn't the largest but I'm not going to point that out to anyone. There's a cross in Effingham Illinois that is a midge taller. But the land here is flatter and you'll be seeing this cross from nearly 20 miles away as you're heading between Amarillo and Oklahoma City.It is located just off I-40 with an easy exit. There is a large gravel parking lot with plenty of room for larger vehicles. At the base of the cross are life-sized statues that depict the 14 Stations of the Cross. There is also a small amphitheater. It's an ideal stop if you're a Christian or Christian-curious.

Bruce K — Google review

If you're traveling east or west on the I-40 through the Texas panhandle, this is worth your time to stop and spend some time.

Rod K — Google review

It is a very moving display. All the individual sculptures depicting different parts of the journey to his crucifixion are incredibly detailed, and really emotionally charged. The replica of the Shroud of Turin was really something as well. It was well worth the stop on our way through Groom. I would strongly suggest anyone with a theological or religious side to visit if given the chance.

Aaron V — Google review

Wow, what an amazing spot! When you walk onto the grounds, you can feel that prayer upon prayer has gone up. It's sort of weird to me to build this masterpiece in the middle of nowhere, but I do think there is something quite amazing happening. I can only imagine all the drivers that are randomly blessed by a stop. This is an amazing meditation point where you can walk through life size statues of the passion, go to the cross, even sit at the last supper. There is also a lovely fountain to sit at and pray. If you are ever cruising down the 40, make time for at least a 30 minute stop, longer if you can!

Anthony H — Google review

Great place to stop on your road trip. I loved learning more about the Savior and the beautiful feeling you get as you walk around. The gift shop was super cute too.

Tara B — Google review

This place was awesome well put together and put together what really happened. A must visit

Stacy W — Google review

This is the most amazing and powerful stop possible. It’s definitely worth checking out and the gift shop is quite impressive with clean restrooms. The display around the cross is absolutely breathtaking. You’ll want to spend a little bit of time walking through the well manicured stations of the cross. We highly recommend this for all ages.

State park

Sights & Landmarks

Palo Duro Canyon State Park spans an impressive 60 miles of ravine that boasts towering 800-ft cliffs. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking the numerous trails and taking in the musical "Texas" at the park's amphitheater. It is advisable to arrive early to beat the heat and bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug repellent as necessary.

Wow, this place is amazing!!! It's absolutely gorgeous. I love that there are so many hiking trails. This is one of the most colorful places that I've ever seen. It's perfect for all ages. It's also very affordable. I had no idea that this kind of landscape was in Texas... I highly recommend that you check it out!!

Shaun — Google review

Beautiful state park! We didn't get to hike the Lighthouse trail because it was closed due to mud, so we did the Rock Garden trail instead. Challenging, but well worth it! We also hiked a couple of the shorter trails and enjoyed those too. There's lots of beautiful scenery and a nice drive with lookouts in case you don't want to get out and hike.

J H — Google review

This is such a beautiful place to visit. Lots of hiking, biking and horseback trails here. I came here for the mountain biking 🚵‍♂️ experience. The cost for entry is very reasonable so I would recommend please make a donation to the park to help keep it going. Also it’s best if you make a reservation before you go, either it be a day visit or camping. The park has online reservations available. It easy and simple to do.I’m from Oklahoma and I had no idea this place was just south of Amarillo Texas. I have definitely been missing out, not anymore. 👍😃

Jason H — Google review

One of the most beautiful and scenic of our state parks. Very well maintained and very nice amenities. Our campsite was very nice and the bath house was clean and the water was hot. I really enjoyed the wildlife viewing blind. I was there only about 15 minutes but saw 6 different bird species, five of which were rare sightings for me. There are a lot of hiking trails which I definitely would have hiked if I was physically able to. We had a hamburger at the trading post and it was delicious. I definitely recommend this park.

Janet J — Google review

Palo Duro State Park is a wonderful destination with stunning natural beauty. We were provided a map, though it wasn’t very clear about the lengths of the trails. We chose the Lighthouse Trail, which the map indicated was 2.3 miles one way. The trail was well-marked, but the actual rock formation called the Lighthouse was much further than stated.Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the top due to the afternoon heat. However, the wind helped keep us cool. There are areas to sit along the trail, though not all have shade. Despite this, I can’t wait to go back and explore more of what the park has to offer.

Luzanda P — Google review

This is a beautiful park. I didn't realize until I planned my trip that it is the 2nd largest Canyon in the US. The Lighthouse trail was amazing. The hike all the way to the top was hard but we'll worth the climb!

Michael S — Google review

This place is absolutely beautiful, with red rocks, canyon views, amazing formations, caves and plenty of hiking trails. If you don't want to hike just drive through is beautiful with many spots to pull over and a couple of picnic areas with beautiful views. The cave trail is very short with amazing views from it, it is steep and you need to scramble through the rocks , but the reward is worth it.

Kaja S — Google review

Really beautiful landscape. We hiked the Lighthouse Trail and it was gorgeous. There were three of us and we each had water backpacks, sun hats and wore linen, which helped make our journey a success. It was 90 degrees, so we stopped a lot. The biting flies were a nightmare. Wear long sleeves and pants if you can. We used Deet and even that didn't keep them away. After our hike, we were ready for dinner, but the on-site restaurant had closed the kitchen by our arrival at 6:40, so we had to hustle the twenty minutes into town. In the evening we attended the Texas Musical which was worth it! It was so cute and everyone really did a wonderful job. The story was interesting, the singers were wonderful, and the effects kept our attention through the whole show. The campsite only had port-a-potties, and we desperately needed showers after our hot and dusty hike (the photo of my feet shows how dusty it was). There were also people playing loud music until about 2 am. Sound really carries out there, so we weren't sure if they were at the campground or somewhere else.

Karlyn C — Google review

I stopped here for a few hours to break up a long drive. Unique scenery and the park was a lot larger than I thought it would be. Did the lighthouse trail and it look me about 2.5 hours. Looked like quite a few other trails. Worth a visit.

Brian J — Google review

AMAZING! Drive the loop. 45 min straight drive, or stop along the way. Restaurant, hiking, camping, horseback riding. Beautiful views! Trading posts and gift shops. So glad we took this in. Don't miss it. Wow!

Robyn M — Google review

Absolutely breathtaking is the only way to describe Palo Duro Canyon Park! As a visitor from out of state, I was blown away by the sheer scale and beauty of the canyon. The hiking trails offered a range of challenges, and every bend revealed a fresh, stunning perspective. The drive down into the canyon was an experience in itself. The park is well-maintained, the facilities are clean, and the staff incredibly helpful. If you love the outdoors and want to feel dwarfed by the majesty of nature, Palo Duro Canyon Park will not disappoint!

Marcus H — Google review

The entry worker was so nice and helpful. It costs $8 per adult. Amazing scenery and so many options for hiking! We visited on a Tuesday in mid-October. It was not crowded at all. Such a colorful vista and beautiful blue skies the day we went.

Linda M — Google review

This is quite lovely. You can drive down to the bottom. They have many amenities for camping and hiking. During the drive, there are many spots to hike and explore. The cost to get in is 12 per person, and 12 and under are free.We did not hike this trip. We simply drove and looked around. We would like to return and actually do some hiking. This is a family-friendly place. I would recommend you give them a try.

Traveling from KY to AZ. 36 foot fifth wheel, tow vehicle and second car. Stopped here for 2 nights. Site 85. 50/30/20A and water. No sewer, but 2 dump stations in park. After backing in (very easy) realized it can be used as a pull through entering in front of site 87. Very roomy site. Covered picnic table and fire ring/grill. Didn't use restrooms or showers, but they were clean. Most of site is red dirt, but parked on asphalt and picnic table is on concrete pad. Close to level. If you've never been here, the Mesquite camp area is like 5 or 6 miles past the park entrance gate. Steep grade into canyon and curvy road. Now for the experience. Although some would complain about some things in this park we were able to overlook any problems (we had none anyway) because it was so beautiful. This is the nicest park we've been to in several years. Great scenery, trails everywhere and wildlife. We saw mule deer, roadrunners, rabbits, turkey, lizards, huge centipede, longhorns and lots of birds. Sat at bird viewing station behind the tradepost for a while and saw many different birds. It was hot during the day and cool at night in September. Would definitely stay again. Fees listed include fees for 3 vehicles. $48/night

Paul M — Google review

What a beautiful place to go hiking. We hiked 3 trails the day we were there. The lighthouse was the toughest. We also went to the big cave and did a night hike on del Rio looking for scorpions 🦂 lots of fun. Take lots of water and be prepared to get dirty. I would buy tickets in advance so your spot is guaranteed, and you can skip the line.

Jason R — Google review

Absolutely love this State Park. We went specifically to hike the Lighthouse trail. This was my 3rd time hiking it and my 7 year old daughters first time. Weather was perfect and the landscape is always beautiful. Hike is about 6 miles round trip. We hiked up to the Lighthouse formation and sat up there for a while to enjoy the scenery. My daughter did well with the hike only real climbs and difficult trail was at the end to get on the formation. Will definitely be back for another hike.

Rachael J — Google review

Absolutely beautiful place. We didn't expect this canyon to be anywhere near where we found it-it just pops out of nowhere and It was spectacular. Trails are well marked and easy to navigate, and the bathrooms are clean. The museum is definitely worth a visit (and watch the videos-esp the one created by Charles Goodnight with the native Americans hunting a buffalo video from 1916). We saw a roadrunner and all sorts of flowers and fauna. Will def go back.

Nombeaux — Google review

I first visited Palo Duro as a child in the 1960s. It created in me an intense desire to see more of the West. I introduced my wife to this park in 2018. Now we go every chance we get. It’s a beautiful park. There are hikes for every level, easy to challenging. The rock colors are breathtaking. The park staff obviously love the park and are incredibly helpful. It’s not an easy park to negotiate at times; heat, flash floods and bugs can be issues. Just be smart about when you go and what you do. Dress appropriately. We’ve never been disappointed. And Amarillo is not far away with its own Texas weirdness. Have fun!

Dwight S — Google review

Palo Duro is a MUST and I highly recommend the Glamping! A little pricey but so much is included which made it worth it! Lots of hiking trails to choose from. We did the famous Lighthouse Trail which was right at 6 miles. Fairly easy until the climbs at the end, but SO worth it! The staff at every building were so friendly. The Trading Post had great food including breakfast, lunch and dinner made to order. The Visitor Center had beautiful artwork and lots of things to purchase. It was in the 70° while we Hiked (9:00‐12:00) and it was already pretty toasty. Would love to go back and visit the Big Cave and some other trails!

Ashley M — Google review

What an incredible experience! We came for my bday 10/19 it as absolutely perfect weather. We explored caves, huge rock formations and ate at the little gift shop/restaurant. Had plenty of bathrooms available along the way. We got so many stunning photos and truly enjoyed nature. Super clean and quiet. Would love to cam here sometime in the future oh and they have GLAMPING! highly recommend this park to anyone in the area

Shanna H — Google review

Generally a very good park. Lots of animals, close bathrooms, water, and power at the site. It had a lot of trails. Some campsites are near the dumpster which attracts a lot of flies.. that bite. Otherwise a great park stay. Very good views from the start of the park. Lots of site openings. Table was somewhat damaged at our site, still functional. I would return.

Marquis S — Google review

One of the best Texas State Parks. Love the canyon and have really enjoyed our past stays in the cabins. One of the most interesting places to see in the state, though pretty hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Fall and spring are best but even March can be really cold based on our experience.

Preston B — Google review

Visited 8/3/24 for morning hiking and later that evening for the Texas! musical which we really enjoyed. Wonderful experience for both. Drove all of Park Road 5 enjoying the scenery. Hiked the Lighthouse trail and was not disappointed. HIKE EARLY IN THE MORNING IN SUMMER AND TAKE PLENTY OF WATER. When we exited the lighthouse trail back into the parking lot there were volunteers and employees offering cold water and a cooling trailer for any overheated hikers. The views are spectacular. We saw lots of wildlife. Cannot recommend visiting here enough. Will definitely be back to hike other trails and explore more.

Tracy T — Google review

Absolutely one of the best Texas state parks. Hands down. As a native Texan, I've been to quite a few, but this one takes the cake. Beautiful views, clean restrooms, plenty of camping and RV spots and very well kept. Hardly any trash anywhere, and that's also a big thanks to the people that visit for cleaning up after themselves. On our visit today we hiked the lighthouse trail. Not a bad trail. Start early tho and BRING PLENTY OF WATER. At least two bottles per person minimum. More if it's going to be hotter. Absolutely amazing views though. 100% worth the hike.

Horseback riding service

Sights & Landmarks

Cowgirls & Cowboys In The West offers an excellent horseback riding service that provides a great experience for riders of all skill levels. The friendly guides ensure a relaxing and enjoyable ride while allowing riders to take in the beautiful scenery, including various animals such as deer. The 2-hour ride is worth its price, and riders are not restricted to following the trail but can ride side by side.

Visited in January '22 and it was a great experience. The guides were extremely friendly and ensured you had the best and relaxing experience no matter the type of riding skills you may had. It was my friend's first time riding a horse and he had a blast! Scenery is great with deer and other animals running around. The 2-hr. ride was worth the price, and you are not tied down to ride the trail. They allow you to ride side by side. I highly recommend visiting and looking forward to visiting again.

Melissa and Blair did an amazing job! They got to know a little about us and put us on horses that best suited our experience and comfort. They introduced us to our horses and made sure we knew a little about their personalities. We had a wonderful ride with beautiful views. We stopped at the rim of the canyon to hear some history and take pictures. This was the perfect birthday present for my husband. He is ready to go again. Thank you

Our family just enjoyed a trail ride with our kids (6 & 8) for their first time. Melissa, Alison, and Bailey did such a wonderful job making everyone comfortable, building their confidence on the horse. We will definitely be back! Beautiful and peaceful scenery! Plus the kids felt so proud of themselves after they finished! Kids said it was their favorite part of the trip!

Baylee & Alison were great guides! They talked to us like they knew us but were very professional in explaining everything about our horses and the ride. They give you some history on the area and will answer any questions you have. The scenery is beautiful and the horses pretty much know the drill so an easy ride.Highly recommend you do this if in the area. Long sleeves and a hat are a must for the sun, and boots are recommended. We would totally go again if in the area.

Amazing horseback riding experience! Our guides, Baylee and Kaycee, were fabulous. The group had varied riding experience/horse familiarity and they gave us a great tutorial and made sure we all felt comfortable throughout the ride. The views were incredible, the ride (3 hrs) was the perfect length, and everything ran smoothly.

The Best in West Texas!I loved the scenic diversity of the two-hour trail. We rode through prairie grasslands, cliffs and canyons, and thick stands of juniper and oaks.Wranglers Baylee and Melissa were friendly, informative, and a lot of fun. The horses were easy-going and very well cared for.The ranch was easy to find; a short drive from Canyon or Amarillo. We will ride here again next time we visit the Panhandle.

Truly enjoyed this experience! I have ridden before, an experience similar to this one, and I think this was my favorite so far! The horses were gorgeous, well taken care of, and the staff was incredible! What made this even more special was I got engaged on this trip! My now fiancé rode for the first time, and she ADORED the whole experience. Highly highly recommend!

Allison and Blair are very knowledgeable, capable of making anyone feel comfortable on a horse, and they both have special bonds with each horse, which is exactly what you want to see on a horseback trail guide. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL OF AMARILLO 🐎

When returning to my hometown after 35 years, a trip to the canyon was a must. My husband found Los Cedros and Cowgirls and Cowboys of the West online. We arranged a morning ride and WOW what an incredible time we had. We were met at the check in with smiles and very informative Cowgirls Melissa, Rebecca, Baylee, and Blair. Based on our riding experience they paired us with two horses that matched us perfectly. I wanted one they called a sweetie pie so I they gave me Rio, my husband askedfor one with an attitude like his so he was given Roy. Lol Both horses treated us very well and had great personalities. We rode through the beautiful ranch for two hours and I was never uncomfortable or worried not having not been on a horse in many years. We chatted with the ladies about the history of Palo Duro Canyon and then just life in general. These ladies were smart, knowledgeable and extremely professional in their jobs. And personally, I love an all girl organization! Go Phyllis! AllIn all it was a beautiful ride and we will definitely be back next year! I highly recommend your business. Thank you for helping make great memories. Heather and Paul R. Ohio

We did a 7:30 am ride and it was amazing! They ensure everyone is comfortable and let you ride posse style on the trail so you can have a little independence. Our guides, Baylee and Alison, were awesome! They give you so much information and made the morning very enjoyable. On the ride, you take a trail around to the rim of the Palo Duro Canyon which was just beautiful. Our horses Boon and Tono were characters and well trained. We had a blast and would highly recommend for anyone beginner to avid rider.

We came all the way from New Zealand to ride a horse into the sunset in Texas! As horse owners ourselves we appreciated the beautiful condition the horses are in and how well trained they are. The girls were fantastic: friendly and knowledgeable, the tack and gear in top order, leather all oiled and supple and horses perfectly shod. We notice these things. Absolutely a five-star experience and I throughly recommend.

Cowgirls & Cowboys In the West was an incredible experience! Having never previously been horseback riding, I went over Labor Day weekend and had a blast! The two instructors, Allison and Baylee, were awesome! They took time to know each of the guests, made you feel comfortable, explained everything in detail, took any photo you asked them to, asked you questions, answered your questions, gave you positive feedback, etc. Couldn't have imagined a better first-time horseback riding experience. Thank you Cowgirls & Cowboys in the West for living up to your hype! I hope to come back again one day!

We chose cowgirls and cowboys in the west because they could host our young children on the horse ride. Rebecca and Blair were expert riders, gracious and helpful as we rode together on the beautiful horses. They were patient and kind with our children, even though none of us had ever ridden horses before, they made us feel comfortable and confident! Would definitely go again!!

Our family had an awesome time on the 2 hour horse riding trip. One of the guides, Bailey, did awesome with our 7 year old. Our daughter never rode before and Bailey helped guide her along…on her own horse. The other guide, Melissa, did great too! It was nice since half the time we got to spread out and walk/trot. We don’t have to stay single file the whole time. Would love to go back again!

34th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TRIP TO AMARILLO ❤️APACHE & RIO WERE GREAT HORSES -- MELISSA & BAILEY WERE AWESOME TOO! 😁HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ACTIVITY! 🐴 🤠Phyllis was great to work with on getting our ride scheduled and rescheduled when the weather forecast changed. We rode in 63 degree weather with sunshine in January and it was perfect. Melissa & Bailey did an awesome job guiding us on our ride and were very informative about the property and the history. They felt like friends/family pretty quickly. We appreciate them so much! We were in Amarillo to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary ️ and they even remembered that detail. Our horses, Rio and Apache, were such good boys and knew exactly how to do their jobs and kept us comfortable and safe . If you’re considering doing a horseback ride in the area, by all means book with Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West ! 100% recommend them!

A beautiful sunset ride! Los Cedros ranch is a well maintained and stunning property. Our wranglers, Melissa and Blair were fun and entertaining. They gave a wonderful talk about the history of the Palo Duro canyon and the Indians that had lived there. The horses were very obviously well cared for and trained, with special attention to safety for riders and mounts. Owner, Miss Phylis, was very accommodating and made a point of personally greeting us before our departure. Highly recommend!

My wife and I LOVED this!Firstly, horses scare me a bit. I was bucked off of one as a kid and broke my arm. Allison and Melissa walked us through the process and helped me to feel really comfortable on the horse.Driving out here were a lot of open fields and I wasn't sure the scenery was going to be great but they're right on the Palo Duro Canyon and it was scenic. Thoroughly enjoyed this.Allison and Melissa were great guides. Anticipated and povided tips and assistance when needed, shared the history of the area, and we're very personable.Nice little bonus... we saw a tarantula walking on the ground. We'd never seen one in the wild.Absolutely worth the money, great memories. I might be gushing a bit but it's because this was one of the coolest tours we've done in the US.

TEXAS Outdoor Musical

Theater production

Concerts & Shows

Amphitheater

Performances

Set in a scenic canyon, this amphitheater features seasonal performances about the history of Texas.

This production is and always has been amazing. My Parents took our family to see it every year for most of my childhood. As an adult, it is just as mesmerizing as when I was little. A fun night of entertainment for the family. It also throws in a history lesson even if it is just inspired by that history. A great experience in every way.

Took in the last performance of summer 2024 on 8/3/24. Really enjoyed it! Beautiful setting, friendly staff and enjoyable show. Bonus was a gentle downpour during 3/4 of the show and no one minded. Some put on ponchos, some enjoyed feeling the rain fall on them. The rain enhanced a few of the play scenes that centered on rain and garnered thunderous applause after the song West Texas Rain ended. The fireworks at the end were a fun surprise. Family friendly atmosphere. Wish they would restrict entry after the show starts. Latecomers were disruptive…people were enjoying the show but then had to get up to let late arrivals in to get to their seats. Highly recommend this show for anyone visiting the canyon and area!!

Wonderful! Everything is outdoors inside the canyon! Not only do you get to see an amazing live theater show but you can be surrounded by mother nature! It was fun and will gladly go back!

Who knew texas dose ballet in jeans! That however is a poor way to put it.Dance, music, special effects, theater. It was so much more then our family expected you will not be dissatisfied with the show.ENJOY! 40$ for adults 30$ for child for center row seats.

One of the best musicals I've ever seen. TEXAS shows how perfected it has become over the past 59 years it has been performed. This is a must see for anyone living in West Texas. I very much enjoyed it, I will be back to see it again, and I will recommend it to everyone. I went to the very last show of the season and I sat toward the very back, right of center, and the view was still great. I doubt there is a bad seat in the whole amphitheatre.

I've seen "Texas" many times but none of them compares to tonight's performance. Absolutely on point.....

After attending this show in the past several times I was underwhelmed. The Cast does an excellent performance with great singing and dance routeins. Very disappointed many scenes were cut out with humorous lines with a Texas twist. Story line was hard to follow due to scenes cut out. This is jut a watered down example of what a fantastic show once was. I can only hope they bring back what they had when we were last here in 2021.

After my husband had already purchased our tickets for the Texas Outdoor Musical, we read a lot of the recent negative reviews about it, so when we went tonight, we were honestly a little apprehensive about going. However, we were actually pleasantly surprised at how good it was! We both had only been once before many years ago now. Even though the storyline has changed, the message that the Texas Outdoor Musical conveyed seemed to ring true to Texas history. If you have not had the opportunity yet to see this musical, we would highly recommend that you go see it! We hope you will not be disappointed. I know we were not!

One of the most amazing theatrical experiences of my life! The acting, the atmosphere the ambiance... it was all absolutely magical. It was truly something every warm blooded freedom loving Texan needs to have on their bucket list. Ill be going again next year!

I have loved working with this show the past two years. I have done ticket booth and front of house, which is our hospitality team.I love the waterworks show at the end and the many special effects throughout the show. The company is always very Converter are of safety of both the audience and the people working on the show. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and I highly recommend the show to anyone!

Grace G — Google review

I have been many times. Would have been good, but I have seen it performed much better. It was harder to follow story line, took out patriotic salute, lightening strike was not as loud and believable, no fire works. I did like the additional focus on Quanah and the native Americans. Hopefully, Texas can return to doing what made it great.

Karla W — Google review

The musical definitely gets 5 Stars the BBQ barely got a 1... dry meat, no flavour beans and coleslaw and potato salad. So not worth $17.25. Top tip go to Whataburger and arrive a little later especially if it's hot. Most of the players were young but they were enthusiastic and very good. Spontaneous moments of laughter and shock. Not sure about how much history I learnt? Fireworks were fabulous, that the time and only time you can take photos. I would pay to see the show again, VIP package and food absolutely not. I'm sure it's Covid related but the gift shop 👎

Where else can you see a musical performance in the middle of the "Texas Grand Canyon"? This was such a unique event! We purchased tickets about 2 months ahead of time and after looking at other reviews online, we took someone's advice of where to sit. In case you need the info, the right side, halfway up (rows K-M) are perfect. The show had a ton of college-age actors/singers/dancers in it (I'm guessing from West Texas A&M down the street in Canyon, TX). They did such a great job and had huge smiles on their faces the entire time. The only thing we didn't necessarily enjoy was the storyline. It was a bit strange and didn't flow correctly in some spots. But it was a great experience overall!

Stacy A — Google review

Awesome production in a gorgeous setting. The story is entertaining, the music is well sung, and the dancers are excellent. I was born and raised in Kentucky and now live in Louisiana, and I was still proud of Texas at the end, lol!

This review is dedicated to my older sister, Jeri, who passed last year 🥺. I love and miss you sis, no matter how stubborn we both are!! ❤️I know my sister went on her cross country adventure with a friend of hers while she was still unemployed and to think I was in some of the same exact places that she was just blows my mind 🤯🤯!I went to Amarillo Route66 after seeing it listed in the local attractions and recalling the stories from her trip. I’m sure it looks completely different than when she went, but it was a must see before heading back home.It was later, around 7:00 pm and most shops were closed but I did manage to get some pics from the journey! The wall art on various buildings is pretty cool to see too!!

What can you say about Main Street USA in Amarillo? There’s a great selection of places to explore, eat, drink and buy your souvenirs and collectible. It will take all day and maybe more to visit all the stores in this area. Come hungry, come thirsty and bring plenty of spending money.

Gerry D — Google review

Nothing but bars now. Kind of depressing. There's cute antique shops. Definitely don't go down there at night alone.

All of our businesses are Mom and Pop owned and most are closed on Christmas 🎄☃️ to be with their families. We wish everyone a safe and wonderful Holiday Season ❣️ Merry Christmas 🎄☃️ and a great New Year 💝

So much potential. But it was Saturday and there was nothing going on. It's sad because it could be so cool. They need more events, more businesses, more life. Get to it city!!

If you saw the animated movie cars you will recognize some of the buildings as similar to key sets in the film. It's a fun detour, doesn't take long and if you like shopping it's all there .

Paul R — Google review

Quaint little store showcasing some fine Americana and souvenirs of the historic Route 66. Staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding towards other local sights

Nice place, lady has lots of information. Wide variety of antiques inside. Sign the book and get your picture taken.

I went down on a Tuesday early in the afternoon - first time through I missed it. It did not help that my GPS dropped me off about six blocks from the actual area. I am guessing that it wakes up in the evening - dead during the day. It was cool to see - although if I were to do it again, I would wait until later in the evening when the place is awake (and it is a bit cooler)...

Very friendly gift shop near here. They stamped my passport, gave me a great couple of pins and had some awesome souvenirs. There were some cool cars driving past, also, which is why I got this photo of the Cadillac diving past.

Had some good experiences and some shady ones. Downtown was quite rundown and had a lot of sketchy people wandering the streets. This was in the middle of the week in the middle of the day. The Big Texan steakhouse was FABULOUS! Was worth the stop for that meal!

Cool little place with some photo ops. Seems like it opens up at night there's a ton of bars down this strip. We went down on a weekday morning there was nobody walking around seemed to kind of like a ghost town. It was a lot of pass through driving traffic. Very nostalgic

Well worth the visit for all RVers! Free entry! The volunteer lady was so friendly. She welcomed our 2 small dogs. The RVs they have are awesome, and set up just as they would have been back in the day. 1935 Airstream. The RV from Robin Williams RV Movie is there. Open Thursday Friday Saturday only. Right on the 27 Frontage Road, northbound lane. Easy access to stop and visit if you pass by in your RV. Thank you Volunteers!

Debby H — Google review

Such a awesome place, really cool memorabilia, the RVs are really cool and I love all the motorcycles

Paul W — Google review

This was an unexpected surprise, there are several RV’s Motorcycles and cars. I was most interested in the vintage RV. Well worth the drive from Palo Duro Canyon. There are several that have low entry doors with signs to watch your head, but I really banged my head leaving one. Would recommend some caution tape on the inside as you leave the RV.

Flamingo C — Google review

A fun little museum. Free but they take donations. I recommend donating what you can to keep this little enterprise going. They had all the way back to a 1935 Airstream, an RV used in the movie "RV", and many other interesting vintage RVs. Also some super cars and a nice collection of Harley Davidson bikes. Be sure to visit both buildings. A second nearby building had a 1963 split-window Corvette Stingray, a newer Indy Car 'vette, and several vintage race cars.

Steve F — Google review

Definitely worth a visit! Lots of unique and antique RVs as well as Motorsports vehicles and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Google shows it is temporarily closed but it is not. It has moved locations. The new address is 14201 I-27, Amarillo, TX. It is behind Yates Flooring. Worth the time to stop and see it!

The M — Google review

100% go see this place. Like stepping back in time. You can even go inside and look at the RV's. They way they have it set up is so nice. Be prepared, its quite warm in there on hot days. Still worth it!!

Jessica F — Google review

Great place to explore with lots of RV's and camping related stuff to see and reminisce over. Gorgeous motorcycle and boats as well.

Richard P — Google review

We were here about noon on Saturday the 6th July. Followed GPS directions and were in the parking lot of a flooring store next to Jack's rv place next to a big closed fence. Nobody else in the parking lot. I looked around and there was nobody at the furniture store, and we didnt see a way to even get to the museum; unless you were suppose to go thru the closed/locked gates . Very disappointed!!!!

A L — Google review

Great small rv museum. Lots of older rvs. We were able to walk through each of them and then went to the 2nd building which had older cars as well.

Dave C — Google review

This is the coolest museum we've ever been to, ever. We are RV enthusiasts, and owners of our own little Class C motorhome. This was such a delight!! And they have much more than just amazing rare RV's (most of which you can ((please be gentle and careful!!! 🙏)) walk through!) But also equally amazing vintage and rare sports cars, motorcycles, toys, memorabilia and more. We had the biggest blast here!! This place is free admission, with acception of appropriate donations. We wish we could've gave more, but we had a $20 on us and threw that in there. They also have free cold water for everyone. Yes, you can feel the love here. Now, for our pro tips on visiting this must-see Amarillo gem; finding the entrance. When you approach the RV museum, you will see a big, dark building which has "Sisemore" in big letters, on the side of it. You've found it! Turn into the first entrance, and pass through the gate, where the parking and entrance is on your right. Don't forget to check out the little building next to the main one, there's lots of awesome memorabilia and sports cars in there. Happy travels! P. S, we will be recommending this to everyone we know. And, I have to mention this: the little informative signs which most everything has, are so super wholesome and adorable, they kind of make my heart overflow with joy. You totally need to see this Museum! 1,00,00,00,000,00 recommend out of 10.

Miss O — Google review

This was really fun exploring inside all of these retro rvs. It's pretty big, and worth stopping for.

Northern G — Google review

Brought back lots of fun rving and camping memories. Plus we enjoyed seeing the history of today's RV develop with these early versions. Definitely worth a stop to see these vintage rigs inside and out !! For free or a donation.

Jack C — Google review

My husband and I don't even own an RV but we found this museum fascinating and enjoyable. It was like stepping into a time capsule being able to envision the glory days of the beginnings of the RV explosion when camping went from basic tent camping to luxury camping on the go. It includes original RVs from the 1930s going forward. Very nice and helpful volunteers give the personal touch. Highly recommend.

Melba H — Google review

A hidden gem, literally!! A little tough to find off an access road with little signage, but WELL worth the hunt. Incredible collection of RVs, most in outstanding condition for their age. The best part is that you are encouraged to go in and look around inside them. They are not just shells either. the staff's attention to detail is fantastic. Make sure you look at everything, inside and out. Tons of artifacts arranged around the RVs give a window to the past. Free admission!!!

Ray P — Google review

Amazing! Truly a must-see when anywhere nearby. Definitely worth the trip! Seeing how much RV life has changed (and stayed the same) was really neat. Being able to go inside them made it completely over-the-top wonderful. Thanks so much for the fun times! Seriously, stop in for this gem of a museum! And free to boot!

Ryan F — Google review

Stopped in since we are campers. Don't care about motorcycles or race cars, just came to see the old rv's. They don't sell tickets, we left a donation. Place was difficult to find, it's in an old warehouse in back of an industrial complex. Collection is in two buildings, neither is ADA compliant. Was worth the trip.

Chris M — Google review

Great museum. Fun to step back in time. Loved that you could actually step into the RV's. Staff very friendly. My husband loved all the motorcycles too! So enjoyed our time there!

Kathy M — Google review

Wow! Super interesting and well done. RV museum of cool vintage looks. Lots of motorcycles and memorabilia. Don't miss this!

Nancy F — Google review

Free entry. I found an Airstream from my birth year - 1962.

Sarah R — Google review

First of all there aren't many RV museums out there and second of all it's free! You can't beat that with a stick shift. Most of the rigs are open to step inside, which is also a rare treat. Make the trip. It's worth it. Plan on about 30-45 minutes.
